Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Information Architect / Content Strategist to transform a large, content-heavy website into a user-friendly, accessible, and scalable digital experience. This role will focus on structuring complex information so it is easy to find, understand, and maintain by internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in information architecture, structured content, and accessibility-first content strategy.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the information architecture (IA) workstream, including content audit, taxonomy design, sitemap creation, navigation structure, URL strategy, and SEO planning.

Design and implement a scalable content model within the selected CMS, enabling non-technical staff to self-publish content efficiently.

Translate complex technical, legal, and policy content into plain-language, user-friendly, and accessible copy.

Define metadata standards, search filters (facets), and content structures to support discoverability and machine translation readiness.

Collaborate with developers to define schemas and structured content models for custom content types.

Lead content migration strategy, including mapping, validation, QA, and redirect planning from legacy systems.

Ensure all content aligns with WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards (headings, alt text, link text, document accessibility).
Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Information Architecture and Content Strategy for large-scale websites.

Strong expertise in taxonomy design, structured content, and headless/decoupled CMS architectures.

Proven ability to write and edit content in plain language (8th-grade readability level).

Working knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) as applied to content.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with self-service publishing platforms, large document/PDF libraries, or regulated industries.

Familiarity with analytics and SEO tools such as GA4 and Google Search Console.

Experience designing content for accessibility-first and user-centric digital platforms.
