Senior Software Engineer – Backend & Data Engineering
Location : Mountain View, CA (Oniste Only - NO REMOTE OPTION)
Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend services and data processing platforms that power AI-enabled applications. This role requires strong expertise in modern Java development, cloud-native architectures, Python, and distributed data engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience building reliable backend systems, scalable data pipelines, and leveraging AI technologies to accelerate software development and deliver intelligent solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.
- Build cloud-native microservices and REST APIs deployed on AWS.
- Develop scalable batch and real-time data pipelines using Java and Python.
- Build and optimize distributed data processing solutions for high-volume enterprise applications.
- Collaborate with AI/ML, backend, and product engineering teams to enable AI-powered capabilities through reliable data platforms.
- Design high-performance, resilient systems following modern software engineering best practices.
- Leverage AI technologies to improve developer productivity and integrate AI-powered capabilities into applications.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, performance tuning, testing, and production support.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 17/21.
- Expertise in Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
- Strong experience developing applications on AWS.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience building scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or distributed data processing systems.
- Experience with Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar distributed data technologies.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and modern data storage technologies.
- Experience designing REST APIs and distributed backend systems.
- Hands-on experience with AI technologies, including Agentic AI, LLM integrations, AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Amazon Q), or AI-enabled application development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience working in Agile development environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Airflow, Databricks, or similar data orchestration platforms.
- Experience building data platforms supporting AI/ML workloads.
- Experience with event-driven architectures.
- Experience working in large-scale cloud-native enterprise environments.
