Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Consultant – GIS with strong expertise in ArcGIS Utility Network and fiber network modeling within the Energy / Oil & Gas (Upstream) domain.
The ideal candidate will lead GIS solution design, architecture, and implementation, with a focus on fiber network systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end GIS solution design and architecture for large-scale utility and energy clients
- Design and implement ArcGIS Utility Network (UN) architecture for fiber networks
- Develop physical fiber data models including:
- Cables, strands, splice points, and devices
- Define:
- Domain networks, tiers, subnetworks
- Network rules and associations
- Design network redundancy, path diversity, and automated impact analysis
- Establish global naming conventions and GIS modeling standards
- Perform capacity planning and infrastructure recommendations
- Support transition from project delivery to operations/support
- Evaluate ESRI-compatible third-party tools (e.g., NetTerrain)
- Work with data sources such as CAD files (.DWG/.DXF) and KMZ files
- Produce detailed architecture and design documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies
Required Skills (Top 3)
- ArcGIS Pro (3.x) – Advanced hands-on experience
- ESRI Geodatabase – Strong data modeling and management expertise
- GIS Industry Experience – 10+ years, preferably in Energy/Utilities domain
Nice to Have Skills
- Data Management (ETL, data governance, spatial data handling)
- ArcGIS Utility Network (UN) – Advanced configuration and implementation
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and Utility Network deployments
- Knowledge of fiber network design (Backbone & Distribution)
- Experience with:
- Mid-span and enclosure splicing
- Industrial constraints and area classification
- Familiarity with third-party GIS tools (NetTerrain or similar)
- Understanding of spatial data formats (CAD, KMZ, GIS datasets)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of GIS experience (Utilities/Energy domain preferred)
- Strong background in solution design and architecture
