Job overview and responsibilities

DB2 Systems professional responsible for DB2 for z/OS and associated ISV products.
This is a key position within the IBM Mainframe Engineering team in Business Operations Services.
Responsibilities include software installation system tuning monitoring of system performance capacity planning problem analysis and resolution and interface with vendor support.
The position will require significant interaction with Business Users and Application Development team in addition to working with other IBM Mainframe support groups such as Operating System Data Base Administration Storage Management Operations/Coverage Information Security and Job Scheduling.

Support System Maintenance:

Support the Infrastructure and DB2 Data Repository on the IBM Mainframe for critical Tier 1 application systems: Peoplesoft HR/Payroll Engine Maintenance Reservation Centers Employee Travel Management -
Provide 24/7/365 on-call support
Responsible for keeping DB2 and all associated ISV products at current supported levels
Provide testing support and product verification for DB2 and DB2 related software on all system upgrade Operating System Software Products Hardware Replacement

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree - Information Technology Business Administration or related field
3 years of experience in DB2 Systems Programming on IBM Mainframes
Strong working knowledge of DB2 for z/OS IBM Assembler and SMP/E
Experience with installing maintaining monitoring/tuning DB2 and ISV products
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior z/OS Systems Engineer provides critical support for IBM mainframe infrastructure ensuring optimal performance and reliability of z/OS environments.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise in mainframe hardware and software with strong problem-solving and collaboration skills across multiple support teams.
System Operations Maintenance
Provides support for IBM mainframe hardware and software technologies
Monitors daily operations of environment
Installs configures and maintains IBM ISV mainframe software
Requires individual to be on the on call rotation - will be expected to work non-business hours to resolve production problems and perform scheduled off-hour activities
Problem Resolution Collaboration
Analyzes and coordinates resolution of problems
Interfaces with vendor support groups and other departments to ensure proper escalation and coordination towards problem resolution
Interfaces with Storage Management CICS Support DB2 Support IDMS Support Capacity Planning Operations Coverage groups and applications staff as required
Development Testing
Develops IBM mainframe solutions in support of applications development projects
Performs acceptance testing of hardware and software solutions
Documentation Reporting
Develops publishes and maintains documentation related to projects hardware and software configuration and installation
Prepares status reports and problem summaries as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
3 years experience with IBM mainframes
Working knowledge of the following are required:
Z/OS operating systems including JES2
IBM Assembler Language programming
Parallel Sysplex clustering technology
Unix System Services USS
IPCS SMP/E
TCP/IP / OSA / VTAM
WLM - IBM Mainframe
z/OS and JES2
IBM Assembler JAVA Cobol C REXX
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
