Job Title: PLM BOM Consultant

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (100% Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract / C2C

 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced PLM BOM Consultant to support Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) initiatives by managing Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering change processes, and product data within enterprise PLM systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Agile PLM and/or Siemens Teamcenter, along with a strong understanding of Engineering Change Management, product structures, and product onboarding.

This role requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and product teams to ensure accurate BOM configuration, compliance, and seamless product lifecycle execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

BOM Management

  • Create, configure, maintain, and update Bill of Materials (BOM) within Agile PLM and/or Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Manage multi-level BOM structures and product configurations.
  • Ensure BOM accuracy, completeness, and consistency throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and product releases.

Engineering Change Management

  • Manage Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
  • Coordinate engineering changes across cross-functional teams.
  • Track change implementation and maintain complete change documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering change control processes.

Product Data & Component Analysis

  • Analyze components, assemblies, and material structures within the BOM.
  • Validate product data against engineering specifications and compliance requirements.
  • Support component standardization and product data quality initiatives.
  • Ensure materials and components comply with organizational and regulatory standards.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

  • Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans for PLM enhancements and product onboarding.
  • Validate system functionality, workflows, and BOM processes.
  • Identify defects, coordinate issue resolution, and verify fixes.
  • Ensure successful deployment of PLM solutions and enhancements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Management teams.
  • Gather business requirements and recommend PLM process improvements.
  • Support product lifecycle initiatives from design through production.
  • Participate in Agile or iterative project delivery methodologies.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve BOM management and engineering change processes.
  • Recommend best practices for PLM governance and product data management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across PLM operations.
  • Maintain documentation, process guidelines, and training materials.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • 6–10+ years of experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Agile PLM and/or Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Experience managing complex Bill of Materials (BOM) structures.
  • Strong understanding of Engineering Change Management processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Experience supporting enterprise PLM implementations or upgrades.
