To any folks in the NYC area that may be interested, we'd like to extend an invite to a few workshops we're hosting in March as part of NYC Open Data Week, a week-long festival of civic engagement with open data.
Also happy to connect directly.

Public Benefits Awareness and Screening: An Introduction to the NYC Benefits Platform
Sessions on Tuesday, March 3 and Friday, March 6 at 9:30am.

Millions of New Yorkers rely on Federal, State, and City public benefits to stay out of poverty and to feed and house their families.
19% of New York City’s 8.6 million people live in poverty and 43.1% percent live in near poverty.

While enrollment in benefits reduces the poverty rate citywide, many New Yorkers are still not signing up for the benefits that they may be entitled to.
Navigating all of the available options is often confusing and difficult due to the complex requirements regarding eligibility.

The Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity manages and updates the NYC Benefits Platform which supports the development of new benefits-related tools through 2 open resources:
Learn about how these data resources work, how they can support benefits outreach, and to imagine new ways to bridge the benefits awareness and enrollment gap.

Today is also the last day for early bird tickets for NYC School of Data, a day-long conference that wraps up NYC Open Data Week.
