C2c: Mainframe Developer/Analyst (SDP6) position Open

We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Developer/Analyst (SDP6) for a long-term contract opportunity supporting a major state government agency. This is a fully remote role, with interviews scheduled for July 28th, 29th, and 30th. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in COBOL, JCL, and ADSO/IDMS, with at least 10 years of hands-on experience in IDMS development.

The role involves analyzing, developing, testing, and migrating code for legacy mainframe systems, while contributing to the transition efforts toward modern non-mainframe platforms. This is a mission-critical role supporting compliance, operations, and future modernization.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Analyze and document mainframe logic, data flows, and embedded business rules.

·         Work with COBOL, JCL, ADSO/IDMS, CICS, VSAM, DMLOs, and associated utilities.

·         Interpret and create Bachman diagrams, IDCAMS, SYNCSORT control cards, and more.

·         Collaborate with business teams to align system functionality with business and regulatory requirements.

·         Produce detailed documentation to support future system rewrites and modernization.

·         Participate in nightly and weekend batch support (on-call rotation).

·         Communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams.

Required Skills & Experience:

·         10+ years of hands-on experience with IDMS, IDMS ADS/O, COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO/ISPF, VSAM, DMLOs, and Bachman diagrams.

·         Deep understanding of mainframe data manipulation and control processes (e.g., PROCs, PARMS, IDCAMS, SYNCSORT).

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language.

·         Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision.

·         Prior experience in Health and Human Services (HHS) domains is a strong plus.

This role is ideal for a seasoned mainframe professional looking to contribute to meaningful modernization efforts while ensuring the stability of critical legacy systems.
