Chinese Catholic charitable organization Jinde Charities is organizing an ‘Evening of Christmas Charity’ in Shijiazhuang to raise money to support the charitable works carried out by members of the charity Group of the Rosary and the spiritual Group of St. Anne of the cathedral of the Diocese of Baoding.
Since 2005, the Jinde Charities has been organizing the event every year in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei province, for the collection of funds.
The theme chosen for this year’s Evening of Christmas Charity is "I walk with you", with three specific intentions: to warm the hearts of children; to fulfil the dreams of young people; and to provide dental care to the elderly.
Led by the pastor, they have been visiting the home of the elderly, the elderly who are alone and the sick.
Since the beginning of Advent they have visited more than 30 elderly, including non-Catholics, bringing them oil, rice and fruit as a Christmas gift.
The Catholic communities in mainland China have been organising many initiatives of charity and spirituality every year during Advent season to prepare themselves for Christmas. The various initiatives are aimed at helping the faithful, especially the elderly, the disabled and all the people who cannot attend church.
