SoI noted down the list of the movies which are patriotic and trust me the list was very so, I trim it down to 5 movies which were shown part of my growing up Krantiveer, Sarfarosh, Lakshya, Roja, and Tirangaa. And the random dice roll turned up to be Tirangaa, @vishalsingh4997 did suggest this for review 2 weeks back and I am happy that I get to do this. And @vishalsingh4997 I promise that I will get to Dosti in a next few days.
The movie starts with 3 kidnapping in first three minutes of the movie. And I guarantee at least one of these three kidnapping can appear in the list of most offhand kidnapping. And those 3 victims were the scientist of missile technology. By the fourth minute, we have the villain revealing the master plan of having the missile production (In-house) development and the destruction of the Nation. (Now, I always admired the villains from that era. They were visionaries and dedicated and they know their evil plan is stupid but they follow their passion. They aim higher, like taking control of entire state or nation. They have cool lairs for themselves most of the time surrounded by either sharks or crocodiles) Next is the reveal of the villain himself and trust me it is just the 5th minute of the movie. There were these weird fixations at that time with the reveal of any character they the camera start with the shoe. So be prepared for lots of frames dedicated to the feet. The walking feet, the running feet, drunk feet, the feet without shoes, with shoes, white shoes, black shoes and what not. To be honest it was 1993 and trust me movies from that era has more contents and dialogues which we can focus on. Anyway, we are introduced to our villain Pralaynath Gundaswamy which literally translates as mayhem(nath) lord of Goon played by Deepak Shirke.
And like every villain of that era there is a dedicated police officer or authority figure who is the blockade for such villain, In this movie its Deputy Inspector General Rudrapratap Chauhan played by Mr. Suresh Oberoi. By the first shot, you will know that this character is not going to last in this movie. If you know the formulae there is always one guy who is there to inspire others and who dies in the movie. DIG Rudrapratap is one such guy he is more of an uncle Ben character.
Now, you see the point why no other actor could have done it better. And the Gundaswamy carries out his operations of smuggling weapons, gold (You know what he is so evil he is already into any illegal business you can think off). So Home ministry has decided to let the military handle the situation at hand and calls one-man-army to deal with Gundaswamy. Enters the epicness level legendary Brigadier Suryadev Singh, A decorated war hero and cool minded strategist, played by the legendary veteran actor Raaj Kumar.
On the whole, the movie was very exciting and interesting watch. The one can enjoy the Sharpe dialogues from Nana Patekar ji and the cool one from Raaj Kumar Sahab. The pacing of the story is nice and it was a delight to watch Rakesh Bedi's informant role, Even though the film seems to be outdated. The heroine in this movie didn't get to do much again I am gonna blame it on the 90's but it you would a difficult task for them when they are sharing screens with powerhouses like Nana Patekarji and Raaj Kumar Saheb.
PS - This is my personal view of the Movie "Tirangaa", And it is to be taken lightly. All the comments that I made were on the performance of these actors and not the actor themselves. Do not treat my word of a word of an expert. Trust me I am no expert

It is one of the best movies when I was a kid. After every time I watched it I would play the Jaani guys (As I didn't remember Rajkumar name at that time) and my brother would be Inspector Wadlae. Very nostalgic movie. I bet you might have some such memories. :D
There was Harish, fresh from his debut movie Prem Qaidi, also the first movie of Karishma Kapoor, where both danced in identical hot pants, in sequences where you could not make out who was who, so visually similar they were. In Tiranga, he has considerable footage but no name, but he leaves an impact, as he is implicated in a horrendous crime by the evil men, once his purse is found at the scene of the crime. Yes. You heard that right. Purse. In 1992, many thought he would be the next Shahrukh Khan, just like in 2019, many thought that Rahul Gandhi would be the next PM.
There was the legendary Deepak Shirke, playing the grandly named Pralaynath Gundaswamy, possibly the only Hindi film major villain to graduate from hotel management, for he wore a waiter suit, and white gloves and carried a kebab skewer, which he used to dispatch non-cooperative scientists as if he is serving starters at a cocktail party. He would attain great fame after Tirangaa, going on to star as Kaalia Danger in Khuda Gawah, Kaalia Patel in Meri Aan, and Kaalia Shirke in Jai Kishen and finally as Bacchubhai Bhigona in the greatest movie of all time, Gunda.
Tiranga is etched in the anals (intentional typo) of Indian cinemadom. It was one of the few movies of the era that gave a lot of attention to science and engineering. In times when Sridevi as a Naagin shot lasers out of her Nigahen and Aamir Khan acted in snake-epics like Tum Mere Ho and high-tech for Indians was Nikitasha kitchenette, Tirangaa went to great lengths to get its science right in a way that Neel Da Gas Tyson would have appreciated.
I SWEAR ITS BEEN YEARS I SAW THIS MOVIE YET I REMEMBER EVERY PLOT YOU HAVE MENTIONED. EVERY SCENE EVERY DIALOGUE. I AM PRETTY SURE YOU DIDNT REWATCH THE MOVIE TO WRITE THIS. DID YOU ?
THE MOVIE IS MAD FUN THOUGH.. CRAZY TIMES.
Every year, January 26 marks the day when the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. It is a powerful reminder of the indomitable spirit and struggles of the millions who fought for the sovereignty of India as a free-spirited democracy. As we gear up to celebrate the 75th Republic Day, here are some compelling stories steeped in patriotic fervour. These movies and teleplays also prompt us to diligently safeguard the values enshrined by India's Constitution.

There are not enough central characters for women actors in Hindi cinema, and even less in action dramas, which means every opportunity is precious and every opportunity lost a cause for mourning. Code Name: Tiranga drove me to tears for this reason and because it is one of the most boring movies I have seen in what ranks as one of the worst years that Bollywood has ever had.
Parineeti plays Durga Singh in Code Name: Tiranga, a spy on an assignment to finish off a mole that R&AW recently detected. Along the way she makes shocking discoveries that could shake the very foundation of the Indian intelligence establishment.
How do you double cross a double agent? This is the question before Durga and her colleagues. Slowing her down on this latest mission is her fear and tension regarding the man she loves, a Turkey-based doctor of part-Indian origin called Mirza Ali (Harrdy Sandhu).
Code Name: Tiranga is so generic in terms of its storytelling style and story that recounting the plot feels like a waste of time. Money has been spent on shooting in picturesque locations across Afghanistan and Turkey in addition to India, but the far more important investment of time in the writing process appears to have been bypassed.
Disappointingly, this film is written and directed by Ribhu Dasgupta whose credits include the thoughtful 2016 Hindi filmTe3nstarring Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan. The rest of his body of work does not match up to Te3n, but Code Name: Tiranga is definitely the low point of the lot.
A somewhat memorable passage in Code Name: Tiranga comes early when Mirza learns the truth about Durga while he is on stage singing Dama dam mast qalandar. Frenzied action in the background while overwhelming music plays in the foreground is a formula used in popular action flicks across the world, not just in India. It is therefore not a great innovation, but the singing here is powerful, the beloved song rejigged well, the editing brisk and the emotions stirring enough to make it an impactful scene.
Twice in the final half hour I thought the film was over, but as I readied to leave, another yawn-worthy stretch rolled out. As if anxious to drive a nail deep into the coffin of Hindi cinema and bury it, in the absolute end, the heroine is made to spout some awfully hackneyed lines about how Durga is the form that every woman takes to right wrongs blah blah blah and that every time the Tiranga is under threat, she will take that form again. Aiyyo! Spare us!
