Pizza Tycoon (also known as Pizza Connection in Europe) is a business simulation video game. The game was designed by the German company Cybernetic Corporation[1] and Software 2000 in 1994,[2] and was published by Assemble Entertainment after its re-release in 2017. It was published and adapted for the American market by MicroProse with changed artwork and locations.

The game is centered on being the manager of a pizza restaurant in a town in Europe or the U.S. It gives the player the option to choose among more than thirty different characters, to create one's own pizza, have cooking contests and modify the display of the restaurant and kitchen. The player can call upon local mafia to sabotage competitor restaurants or get money from criminal activities such as weapon and drug dealing.

The game displays a playful sense of humor from the graphics and cartoonish drawings, game messages, and animated faces that are put on interacting characters. The original European version ("Pizza Connection") featured a graphical style very similar to MAD artist Don Martin.[3] Microprose's adapted version ("Pizza Tycoon") for the American market distanced itself from this style due to copyright concerns with newly created characters in a different style modeled after famous people as Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan or Lenin.[3]

Pizza Tycoon is a strategy game where you are an aspiring pizza chef, who wants to start the best pizza chain in the world. You begin by choosing a character you want to be (they differ in appearance and abilities, but the most important factor is the amount of money they have at the start).

Then you choose one of the cities in the USA or Europe, where you will rent the building that will become your first pizza restaurant. Before you open it, however, you have to buy furniture, decor and floors (there's a huge choice); hire some cooks and waiters; add some pizzas to your menu, and buy ingredients (you can buy at various shops, which offer various quality of the ingredients). Once this is all ready, you can open your first restaurant and then advertise it via fliers, billboards, newspaper or TV ads.

Creating your own pizzas, either to include into your menu or to take part in pizza-making competitions, is an important part of the game. You begin with an empty dough, and you're free to add a lot of various vegetables, meat, fruits or herb onto it. Remember that various people like various ingredients - if your restaurant is in a district populated mostly by kids, you can expect that a pizza made of sweet things will be popular. Also, specific ingredients rise and fall in popularity; if the newspaper announces that pineapples are bad for health, then sales of your Pineapple Pizza might plummet!

But while earning money as a honest citizen can be fun, it's even more exciting to get involved with the Underworld and buy weapons to devastate your competitor's restaurant, or do missions for the Mafia (which usually involve picking up something at a specific place at a specific time, and bringing it somewhere else at a different time). But beware, as this can bring you problems, either from the law or from the Mafia itself.

The player chooses a plot of land and starts making cash. A simple pizza (or biscuit base) is worth 25 cash. The earned income increases, to a total of nearly $500. Afterward, the player needs to design a pizza place, and create custom pizzas (with up to 4 toppings) The player serves customers pizza, which they pay for with gems. Gems are used to purchase pizza toppings. In its latest update, the player can choose between the new game and the old game. If the player chooses to start a new game, then an introductory cutscene will play.

In order to get customers at all, a player needs some (at least 3?) of the "Original" recipes in the game. Like, the premade ones that were in the cookbook/manual or something. I found the files at pizzatycoon.org (great site, but feels outdated), but some of the pizza's in the files have german names (the game was originally german).

Welp...i had completely forgotten all about this game until I scrolled by this topic. Now 15 year old memories are assaulting me. I wish i could help you...but I just also made stupid gross pizzas for no reason because i had no idea how to actually play.
