I take all of my own call (I’m the only Urogyn J) and am not in the general GYN call pool.  B

I take general gyn surgical backup call and it SUCKS.  If anyone has to go to the OR, I take them.  I take one Thursday and one Friday a month ... doesn't sound like much, but the volume here is CRAZY.  It ruins my week just thinking about it.  Lots of ectopics, Planned Parenthood disasters (i.e. 2nd tri ab with a perf that needs a hyst in the middle of the night), etc.  If you can avoid it, I would.  Then again, if Oakland isn't that busy, it may be ok if you get paid (I don't).  xoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxo

i've been trying to avoid it for almost 6 years.... but i think my time has come (& olga's too, unfortunately)
i need to pull the numbers, but i don't think oakland is actually that busy in terms of after hours add ons (ectopics, etc), and the GYN call pool will be at least 10-15 people, so hopefully it should be OK.
we do get paid if we come in.
miss you!
xoxo

I'm on call every Wednesday, and entire weekend every 6 weeks.
It is what it is. Ectopics and other types urgent Gyn bleeding.
