Nooran Sisters have a rich musical heritage that goes back to their great-grandmother, Bibi Nooran, who was a renowned Sufi singer in the 1940s and 1950s. She passed away in 1972, leaving behind her legacy to her daughter, Swarn Nooran, who also became a Sufi singer in the 1970s. Swarn Nooran married Ustad Gulshan Mir, a classical musician from the Sham Chaurasia gharana. They had two daughters, Sultana and Jyoti, who inherited their musical talent and passion.

Sultana Nooran was born on 14 June 1992 and Jyoti Nooran was born on 24 February 1994 in Phillaur, Jalandhar, Punjab. They grew up in a humble and religious family, where music was a way of life.
