Hi Chris,

I'm swamped, but will answer within the next 24-48 hours. I have cc'd the group email; you should send support requests through there. Some of the people on the list have been very effective "peer support" when I am not available.

The short answer is, put the config file in your executable path. C:/Python26 is most likely in your path.

Just FYI, I haven't had a chance to test yet with Python 2.6; I use 2.5 myself. I will be testing 2.6 after I get the new release nailed down.

Good luck!

Hi Dale,

I recently found urlnet and it seems interesting.  I am a very inexperienced python user and I have had some trouble understanding the installation steps for your urlnet library.  I am running Windows XP and I have Python 2.6 installed to the following directory:

C:\Python26

I have unzipped urlnet and put the folder "urlnet" here:

C:\Python26\Lib\site-packages

You then say that I need to edit the config file.  I can do that fine but where is it meant to go?  I have unzipped everything to:

C:\Documents and Settings\TaylorC\My Documents\programming\urlnet-0.82

Is that where the cfg file resides along with the rest of the stuff.  Was I meant to unzip everything to site-packages?

Basically I don't understand the following step in the instructions:

"Edit the urlnet.cfg file in the conf subdirectory to, at minimum, set the
workingDir vale to the default working directory of your choice."

Would my working directory in this case be C:\Documents and Settings\TaylorC\My Documents\programming ?

I am sorry if these are stupid questions but I don't really understand how Python works.  However, if I can begin to use urlnet it would be really helpful.  I got your email by searching Google by the way.

Regards,

Chris
