Hello SASers!!
Even though the blizzard set us back a week, last meeting we
were back into the full swing of things!
Mary Brennen came to discuss recycling on the URI campus
-
Recycling at athletic games is pretty much out of the recycling department's power
and lies with the athletic department. Although she has given them the
recycling bins they just haven’t used them yet! This was just a bit of a
surprise to us. We can make a difference! Express your student concern about recycling at the games by emailing Brian Boesch at bbo...@uri.edu
- Single-stream recycling seems to be confusing to some people at
URI, so SAS has volunteered to distribute informational stickers throughout
campus and possibly the bay campus as well
- SAS will be volunteering our help during move-out-day on campus. We would help the recycling department collect food, appliances, and more that are all donated to the Johnny Cake center!
We discussed the “Green-champion” program
- We need to get through the housing bottleneck to move
forward with this but Mary is behind the idea!
Next Meeting: Earth Day planning
- Come up with some creative ideas! What could SAS do for our
booth this year?
- Think of some clubs or vendors you think would be interested
in having a booth!
- Also Mary Brennen is also open to any ideas that could make
the recycling booth more “exciting” so feel free to share your thoughts next
meeting.
See you all next week! And since next week is all about planning, we'll be needing some brain food (don't you think?) Cookies shall be provided!
