Hope everyone is having a great summer. Things have been quiet here,
but thought you all might like to know about a few internship
opportunities at the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology. This is a
great local opportunity to become more involved in anthropology/
archaeology. Below is an email I received from Kevin Smith (curator)
about the internships. I will also upload the internship descriptions
to this site. The deadline for application is September 15th.

Prof. Bovy

Dear Colleagues,

The Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology is offering five positions in
three internships (Collections Management [2], Education Outreach [2],
and Northeastern Archaeology [1]) for advanced undergraduate or
graduate students during the 2010 academic year.

The internships can be undertaken for one or two semesters and will be
awarded on a competitive basis. We will strive to match the abilities,
interests, and training that student applicants can bring to the
Museum against the needs of the Museum for the projects in question.
Each internship carries with it a modest stipend for qualified
students.

Detailed descriptions for each of the internships are attached. Please
post them in your departments or forward them to students who might be
encouraged to apply or to your colleagues and university internship
offices.

Applications will be accepted until 5 pm, September 15th, 2009.
Interested students should submit, by email, a CV/resume and letter of
interest explaining their background (academic and personal),
training, future plans, and availability during the academic year. If
students expect to receive academic credit for the internship through
their home universities, their applications should also include the
name and contact information for an academic advisor who has agreed to
sponsor the student and to support and oversee the home university's
academic and administrative requirements for credit.

We look forward to hearing from you and from your students.

Hi Prof Bovy

Just wondering if these are paid internships?

Hi Kate-
Good question. It says "a modest stipend, without benefits, is
available for qualified interns." I am not sure much "modest is. The
person to contact with further questions is Kevin Smith
