Here is a field school for those interested in staying in the region:
Central CT State University Field School: May 26-June 25, 2009
(Monday- Friday)
The story of a woman of European descent and a Narragansett Indian man
who married and then together fled to the northwest hills of
Connecticut in the late 18th century has, indeed, become the stuff of
legend in southern New England. The community they established has
become an archaeological site that has recently been recognized and
designated as a State Archaeological Preserve.
Archaeologist Ken Feder returns to the Lighthouse village site this
summer to continue assessing the facts behind the legend. Spend five
weeks in the woods earning either 3 or 6 credits as a member of a
research team. Learn archaeological field methods, documentary
research, laboratory analysis, and mosquito avoidance techniques.
For additional information please contact Dr. Feder directly
