Dear Colleague:

I am writing today to acquaint you with the Post-Baccalaureate Program
in Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. You may
already be familiar with our program: we offer intensive Greek and
Latin language classes as well as individual advising so that
promising students can receive the background they need to continue
their careers in Classics or a related field.

Here are some facts you may not know:

We have an excellent placement record. Our students have been
accepted, many with generous stipends and fellowships, by graduate
programs at top schools, including the University of Pennsylvania,
Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, NYU, University of Chicago,
Stanford, USC, UCLA, University of Michigan, University of Texas, and
Oxford University.

Our program has prepared students for careers in Classical Philology,
Classical Philosophy, Ancient History, Archaeology, Linguistics,
Comparative Literature, Religious Studies, and Byzantine Studies.

Tuition is heavily subsidized by Penn's College of Liberal and
Professional Studies, so a year's tuition at the Post-Baccalaureate
Program in Classical Studies costs a fraction of the tuition charged
for comparable Ivy League undergraduate or graduate programs.

The application deadline for fall 2009 is March 15, 2009. You will
find information about the program and application procedures at our

postbac-classics.html>website.

I would appreciate it greatly if you could share this information with
your students, as you see appropriate. Please let me know if I can
answer any questions for you by responding to this
<mailto:l...@sas.upenn.edu?subject=Question about Post-Bac Classical
Studies>email.

Best,

Dr. Julie Nishimura-Jensen
Director, Post-Baccalaureate Program in Classical Studies
University of Pennsylvania
