Paw prints with solid fillThe Ten Longest Resident Dogs (plus one bonus dog) at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta, GA Paw prints with solid fill

14171 Chico – kennel 855

Chico has now been at the shelter for over 100 days!!!

CCAS Volunteers think Chico, our current longest resident, is “fab-u-lous!” This sweet boy was surrendered on October 5th. He’s reported to be good with kids, but we don’t have much more info on his past. His previous owner didn’t have him for too long before needing to bring Chico to us. Chico has been struggling with some skin issues since coming to the shelter, including ear infections in both ears and some areas of furunculosis. He has been receiving treatment, and his issues have mostly resolved! Volunteers say he’s a “good running buddy” but does need to work on his leash skills!

Chico’s Stats:

8 years old

Intact, and too old for us to neuter here

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

68 pounds at last weigh in

101 days in shelter

14722 Brandi in kennel 828

Brandi came to the shelter on October 29th, but she was a stray for a few weeks before that! The person that took her in said they got in contact with Brandi’s previous owner, but they said they had rehomed her and didn’t have her new owner’s information. Brandi’s finder says that she was good with their kids but was very high energy with them! That definitely lines up with what our volunteers have noted: they say Brandi is a “peppy puppy” who “loves to zoom!”

Brandi’s Stats:

2.5 years old

Spayed

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

40 pounds at last weigh in

77 days in shelter

14754 Kingston in kennel 27

Kingston was surrendered by his owner on October 30th because he had a bad habit of escaping his yard. Since he was an outside dog, his owner says he is not potty or crate trained, but luckily, he is great with other dogs and with kids! Kingston is an affectionate and playful boy. He loves being pet and his favorite games are fetch and tug of war. Volunteers say Kingston is full of joy, so he will surely fill your life with joy, too.

Kingston’s Stats:

1 year, 8 months old

Neutered

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

56 pounds at last weigh in

76 days in shelter

14973 Biloxi in kennel 801

Biloxi came to us as a stray on November 9th. The person that found him brought him to us shortly after finding him, so they weren’t able to provide much insight into his behavior outside of the shelter. From what we have seen here, he is a super sweet, gentle guy, and our volunteers say he has been good near other dogs!

Biloxi’s Stats:

3 years old

Neutered

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

59 pounds at last weigh in

66 days in shelter

15103 Finn in kennel 55

Finn was a lost boy on November 17th, and someone found him on a major road. Luckily, he didn’t get hurt! He came to us wearing a collar and leash, so he had a family, but they never came to pick him up. Finn is an energetic boy who loves to play! Our volunteers say he loves rope toys, he’s great on leash, and knows sit.

Finn’s Stats:

2 years old

Intact

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

58 pounds at last weigh in

58 days in shelter

15105 Midnight in kennel 53

This handsome guy came to the shelter as a stray on November 17th. He has a microchip, but his owners didn’t come for him. Since coming to the shelter, Midnight has been neutered and was treated for some minor skin issues and tapeworms, which have resolved. CCAS volunteers enjoy taking him out for walks and say he loves to run around and play fetch in the off-leash area.

Midnight’s Stats:

3 years old

Neutered

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines

41 pounds at last weigh in

15119 Oxie in kennel 800

Poor Oxie was hit by a car not too far from the shelter on November 18th. Luckily, he didn’t get any serious injuries, just some road rash that has healed. Oxie is a calm and well-behaved boy, but he does seem to be a power chewer, so if you take him home, stock up on Kongs! He is heartworm positive, so he will need that taken care of.

Oxie’s Stats:

4 years old

Neutered

Heartworm positive

Up to date on DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines

55 pounds at last weigh in

57 days in shelter

15145 Holly in kennel 834

Holly was not very jolly when she was brought to the shelter as a stray on November 19th. She was very nervous and had awful dermatitis over most of her body. Our vet staff immediately started treatment for these concerns. Holly’s skin and anxiety have improved a great deal since November! She’s come a long way. She went from staying at the back of her kennel to approaching staff for pets and scratches! Holly will surely improve even more when she’s out of the shelter.

Holly’s Stats:

1.5 years old

Intact

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

46 pounds at last weigh in

56 days in shelter

10629 Blue in kennel 877 – see also 10630 Umi in kennel 876

Blue came to us originally in June of last year with his “sister” Umi. They were reclaimed by their owner that day, but Blue came back on November 20th and was not reclaimed this time. Umi came back in on December 3rd and was not reclaimed either. Blue is the only one technically on the long timer list, but his story isn’t complete without mentioning Umi! They don’t have to be adopted/rescued together, but it would be nice if they did.

Blue’s Stats:

7.5 years old

Neutered

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

68 pounds at last weigh in

55 days in shelter

Umi’s Stats:

15366 Bella in kennel 805

Bella’s family moved to a new home and weren’t allowed to take her with them. She came to us on November 29th and honestly, we’re surprised she hasn’t been snatched up yet! Her volunteer comment card shows she’s a “volunteer fave.” One comment says, “I justthis sweet girl!” They also say Bella loves playing in the off-leash area with her favorite red ball.

Bella’s Stats:

8 years old

Spayed

Heartworm negative

Up to date on DHPP and Bordetella vaccines
