12094 Wally Shanks – Days in Shelter 82

Wally Shanks is a Pit Bull mix, neutered male, he is aged around 6 years old and is microchipped. He has been in the shelter since late July, because he was being held due to an investigation. He is current on his vaccines (no Rabies vaccine just yet!), he has been dewormed, and he tested negative for heartworms. He was slightly on the thinner side, so we had him on a feeding schedule to help promote some weight gain. The reason he needs rescue help is, our staff noticed an unusual gait in his rear end. We have taken x-rays, which are available upon request. Our vet staff is unsure of what the issue is with his rear end/rear legs, which means he will need further veterinary care upon leaving the shelter.

12481 Kayla – Days in Shelter 68

This brindle beauty is Kayla! She snuck into someone’s backyard through a broken section of fence on August 3rd. They thought about keeping her, but decided it was best to give us a call. Since coming to the shelter, Kayla has been spayed and has received her Rabies vaccine for the year. Our volunteers think she is extremely sweet and is very well-behaved on her walks. Come see for yourself! She is approximately a year old and in kennel 835.

12565 Chip – Days in Shelter 65

Chip is a volunteer fave! This handsome guy was running loose on August 6th and jumped right up into someone’s truck when they stopped for him. Chip also jumped straight up onto the front desk counter at the shelter when he first got here, so we can say confidently that he likes to jump and can jump pretty high. He has attended a couple adoption events, and was even pet of the week recently, but he has sadly been overlooked! Come get Chip out of the shelter, and he’ll probably jump for joy. He is neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccines, and in kennel 831.

12673 Checkers – Days in Shelter 62

This poor baby was found tied to a pole in a church parking lot. Luckily, one of our road officers got to him before something worse happened. He has been at the shelter since August 9th and he is so ready to get out of here. Our volunteers say he “comes out of his shell” when he gets outside. Despite weighing 50 pounds, he is reported to think he is a “lap dog”, and we’re not going to tell him otherwise. Volunteers also say he is great on leash and takes treats gently. Checkers is almost 1 year old, he is neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on his vaccines. If he “checks” all your boxes, come see him in kennel 23.

12709 Canello – Days in Shelter 60

Cutie Canello was surrendered on August 11th because his family was moving. When he first came to the shelter, he was started on anxiety medication, but he has gotten more comfortable over the past two months. At his last anxiety checkup, he was a little timid but came up to the front of his kennel and walked past other dogs with no issue! Volunteers say he is a calm, sweet gentleman who loves giving hugs. Canello is around 10 months old, neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on all his vaccines. He’s waiting for you to come give him a hug in kennel 857.

12721 Jager – Days in Shelter 59

Affectionate Jager was brought to the shelter on August 12th as a stray. He’s a senior, probably around 7, and he’s neutered. He’s also heartworm negative and up to date on all his vaccines. Volunteers think he is wonderful to walk. They say he is gentle taking treats, knows a few commands including “sit,” and is good on the leash. If you want to give Jager his forever home, come see him in kennel 26.

12909 Elsa – Days in Shelter 55

On August 16th, one of our road officers picked Elsa up from a vet’s office. A Good Samaritan brought her to them after finding her in their neighborhood. We’re not sure why no one came to reclaim this princess! Our volunteers LOVE her. They say she has a lot of energy, so she really needs a big backyard to run around in. She knows “sit,” is possibly housebroken, and takes treats gently. Elsa is 2 years old, heartworm negative, and is still intact. We won’t ‘let it go;’ we want her in her forever home! She’s waiting for her new castle in kennel 16.

12979 Darwin - Days in Shelter 52

Darwin kept coming up to a family’s home at the beginning of August. They were leaving food out for him, and said he was playing nicely with their own dogs. The family decided it was time to bring him to the shelter on August 19th because he playfully jumped up on their toddler and scratched him. Because this incident broke skin, he now has a “bite history.” He is still on the adoption floor, but it’s important we mention this fact. We have not seen any behavior issues with him. He just jumps when he’s excited, which is often! Darwin is around 3 years old, neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccines, and waiting for you in kennel 809!

13014 Pumpkin - Days in Shelter 51

Pumpkin has been with us since August 20th. He came to us as a stray, and the poor boy was wearing a shock collar. He has been very anxious here but has slowly been improving. He’s taking some medication for his anxiety which seems to help him be more interested in engaging with our staff. This Pumpkin needs a new patch to grow and thrive in. If you want to plant him in your garden, come pick him from kennel 849! He is around 4 years old, heartworm negative, and still intact.

13052 Lacey - Days in Shelter 50

Lacey came to the shelter with her three puppies on August 21st. The pups have all been adopted, leaving mom behind. Lacey deserves a forever home, too! Since she was a stray, we unfortunately don’t know much about her. She is around a year and a half old, intact, and heartworm negative. A few weeks ago, she was injured on a walk. One of her toes had a laceration that has since healed. Come visit her in kennel 83!
