Subject: URGENT!!! Desperate for help! Please Read!
Hi,
You don't know me but I was given your name as a possible lead for help. I have an URGENT need to find someone to take in this beautiful young male pit mix that we have been calling Petey. He was apparently abandoned near Norcross, GA and I have had him for the past three weeks, unable to locate his owner after many attempts. Our personal situation prohibits us from keeping him much longer, and no one so far has been willing to take him in.
My best guess is that Petey is about a year old, and perhaps 50 pounds. He has not been neutered yet but I have funding for neutering and vetting if I can find a no-kill shelter or a qualified person to foster him. I can also pay reasonable transportation costs. He is very smart, house trained, does not chew, and is very affectionate.
Petey has a number of healed and almost hidden scars that lead me to think he has had a very hard life. When we took him in he was very skittish around people and would hump my other rescue dogs. The other dogs "cured" Petey of the humping with no one getting hurt and he's one of the boys now. He has responded very well to affection and petting but apparently still has some triggers of aggression that only time and training will cure- and with a disabled family member and a young son, we can't provide the time and patience to work with him properly. Even adding another perfectly socialized dog into our mix would be problematic because of the disability. He is not yet suitable to a family with small children or elderly or disabled persons.
Petey has come so far, so fast, that it will break my heart to see him put down- but that day is coming very soon unless someone can help. We have called dozens of shelters and rescue organizations, with no luck.
I am begging you to please help Petey if you can. He really deserves another chance at a normal life with a loving family- but someone will have to put the time in with him.
His time is short.
Thank you
