12106 833 Evie Days in Shelter 100

Our current longest resident is Evie! She has been here a whopping 100 days! On July 20th, she was found tied to a tree in a park. She had a microchip, but her family didn’t come to reclaim her.  Since she was a stray, we don’t know much about her past, but luckily, we have wonderful volunteers that have spent good quality time with her! They have described her as a “sweet, sweet dog” that is full of energy and loves to play. Evie barks a lot when excited, especially if she sees another dog, but she seems to be interested and friendly to the other dogs.

Evie is one year old, spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on all her vaccines.

13116 877 Beau Days in Shelter 66

Beau was hanging around someone’s Air BnB for a few days, probably looking for a comfy place to lay his head. He’s been here since August 23rd, and since then, the volunteers have had so many great things to say about him. His volunteer comments card is filled with things like, “this boy is so sweet,” and “SO MUCH FUN!!!” Beau likes to play fetch and is the Frisbee King. He knows how to sit and is leash trained.

Beau is one year old, freshly neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccines.

13223 829 Bixby Days in Shelter 61

This adorable guy is Bixby! He was out on an adventure, and someone picked him up to keep him safe for the night. We don’t understand why a friendly, happy boy like Bixby is still here. He greets everyone he passes on his walks, and he has the most intense puppy dog eyes when he’s in his kennel. Bix wants to run around and play with you, so come get him! He does have one bad habit: he likes to chew his leash. We’ve combated that by making sure he takes his rope toy on his walks!

Bixby is a year and a half old, heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on all vaccines.

13273 835 Finn Days in Shelter 59

Finn was very anxious when he first came to the shelter on August 30th. The kind people that found him brought him to the vet to get checked out, and he had to be sedated to allow an exam. We started him on anxiety medication when he got to the shelter, and he has improved! His last anxiety checkup was on September 9th, and he was easy to handle and allowed a full exam, so they discontinued his anxiety medication.

Finn is seven, negative for heartworms, neutered, and up to date on vaccines.

13357 880 Marla Days in Shelter 55

Marla was brought to the shelter on September 3rd after found wandering near Truist Park. She was probably just trying to watch the Braves play, but a Good Samaritan picked her up before she could buy her ticket. Since coming to the shelter, she has become a Certified Volunteer Favorite. Marla’s volunteer comments card describes her as a “sweet baby angel” and as one volunteer wrote, “OMG…loveliest, snuggliest girl ever!”

Marla is four years old, spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on her vaccines.

13368 49 Petey and 13369 49 Left Eye Days in Shelter 54

Petey and Left Eye were surrendered on September 4th. Their owner was having serious health issues and sadly, could not take care of them any longer. The owner adopted these two cuties from here last year. They aren’t siblings, they just were adopted together. Their owner said they are good with other dogs and kids but have never been around cats. They both are housebroken and crate trained.

Left Eye is one year, seven months old, spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on most of her vaccines. Petey is a few months older at one year, eleven months, heartworm negative, intact, and up to date on most of his vaccines.

13394 22 Luna Days in Shelter 53

Luna was surrendered by her owner on September 5th because they were going through some housing issues. They said Luna is good with other dogs as long as they behave, and they said she is not bothered by cats. Luna is reported to be good with children, housebroken, and crate trained. She has some skin allergies, and she received treatment for pyoderma and ear infections when she first came to the shelter. She was also receiving treatment for anxiety, but she has improved so those medications have been discontinued. Our volunteers say Luna is a very sweet girl that is great on leash, knows “sit,” and loves fetch!

Luna is five years old, intact, heartworm negative, and has received all vaccines minus the Rabies vaccine.

13449 854 Ramona Days in Shelter 51

We picked Ramona up on September 7th while she was out on an adventure with a couple other dogs. She was the only one that was contained and brought to the shelter. Ramona has some skin issues that have been improving with medicated baths and antibiotics.

Ramona is three years old, intact, heartworm negative, and up to date on her vaccines except the Rabies vaccine.

13474 57 Zena Days in Shelter 50

Zena came to us as a stray on September 8th. Her finders said she was loose at a school, so they took her home until one of our officers could come pick her up. They said she was friendly and sweet but didn’t have her long enough to learn any more information about her. Zena seems to be a well-trained lady. She knows “sit” and “lay down,” takes treats gently, and walks well on leash. She loves a good chin scratch, too.

Zena is three, spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccines.
