Poppi is a cute, 37lb girl that was found and brought to the shelter January 15th. Poor Poppi had a partially delivered, deceased puppy stuck. Who knows how long it had been that way, but she had an emergency dystocia spay. There was a complication from the surgery which led to her having little to no function in her left kidney. Luckily this does not affect her health in any way. Poppi has been staying in the vet clinic while healing and recovering. She is a sweet girl but shy with strangers. The vet clinic is quiet, but she can’t stay in there forever. She won’t do well in the regular shelter setting so we would like for her to go to rescue instead. She does need to work on a couple things to ensure she has a successful and happy future. With consistency she needs to work on potty training. She is also barrier protective – when people stop by the clinic door, she jumps, barks, and is a little mouthy. She seems good with other dogs and gets along with the two female dogs she has been introduced to. Poppi loves her toys and plays a little fetch. She’s a good girl and gets into her cage on command. Poppi may be about 2yrs old, spayed, and heartworm negative.
