15140 – intake kennel 1
We’re starting this list today with the dog that needs to be pulled most urgently. This little guy came to the shelter yesterday November 19th as a stray, and he isn’t in great shape.
He was examined by the vet and received quite the list of diagnoses:
- Suspected brachial nerve injury to the left front leg.
- Severe dermatopathy, likely pyoderma secondary to allergies.
- Severe dental disease with oronasal fistulas.
- Suspected Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS) OU with limited vision.
- Suspected deafness.
- Flea infestation.
He is currently receiving treatment for his ailments, but he will need further care than we will be able to provide here at the shelter. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can help him!
His Stats:
- 14 years old
- Neutered
- Heartworm negative
- 6 pounds
14962 Benny – kennel 405
This dapper gentleman is Benny! He was brought to the shelter on November 8th as a stray. His finder kept him overnight and said he was good with their kids and dog, and that he seems to be crate and potty trained! Benny was extremely matted when he came to us, and has been shaved as much as possible, but he does have various lumps and bumps that make that difficult. He has some other ailments that are fairly common for senior dogs, like moderate dental calculus, but he is also underweight and on a feeding schedule.
Benny’s Stats:
- 7 years old
- Neutered
- 15 pounds
- Heartworm status unknown- difficulty accessing blood due to matting and skin growths. Hopefully, we can successfully draw blood soon.
14906 Ziggy – kennel 404
Sweet Ziggy was loose in a neighborhood on November 6th and ran right up to some nice people when they called for him! They took him in for a few hours and told us that he was good with their two big dogs and was polite with cats. Ziggy was also very matted and had some of the larger matts removed, but his ears are matted shut. We’re hoping to remove them, but he may need to be sedated for us to safely and comfortably do this.
Ziggy’s Stats:
- 8 years old
- Intact, and too old for us to safely neuter
- Heartworm negative
- 10 pounds
15021 Ellie – kennel 202
Ellie is an amazing dog. She came to us as a stray on November 12th and she has become a staff favorite. Ellie has a quite large mammary tumor that affects the way she walks with her back legs, but it doesn’t seem to bother her too much! She loves rolling around on the grass and she doesn’t seem fazed when the growth is tossed from side to side. She knows how to sit, and she is possibly potty trained. She keeps her kennel clean and waits until she’s outside on a walk to go. Other than the mammary mass, she doesn’t have too many health concerns. Ellie has moderate dental disease and some dermatitis from a flea allergy.
Ellie’s Stats:
- 7 years old
- Intact, and too old for us to safely spay
- Heartworm negative
- 63 pounds
