It's with great relief that I say these two made it out safe, thanks to Donna and Dede of GA Jack Russell Rescue (http://www.jackrusselladoptions.com/) -- and JUST IN TIME by the sound of it. The little boy w/ the hurt paw had other infected wounds that are being treated.
Below are pics of both kids at the vet.
So, in order for our hard-working GA JRT rescuers to keep doing this and to get these guys on the road to adoption, I ask you to please consider making a donation as follows:
Vet Payment to Dr Ray Wright in Lithonia GA -- 770 482-2966 -- tell them is is on GA Jack Russell Account
OR via PayPal:

Thanks so much for any help you can give. These guys would lick your face off if they knew how many people cared about saving them! ;)

Partners with Clayton County Animal Control Janis Cortese-Tollis I know this might sound a little MacGyver, but if you use the cinderblocks as a guide, these dogs are a little easier to read. A cinderblock will be 8 inches high. This baby's body is only 6 inches or so deep. My guesstimate would be under 25 lbs.
Horses are measured by hands, we measure our dogs by cinderblock. Patch is about 1.5 cinderblocks high
Partners with Clayton County Animal Control We need some kennels emptied NOW! If anyone wants a dog, please speak now. CCAC is at capacity, please help! Email jmd...@earthlink.net, ccacpa...@gmail.com AND ansea...@gmail.com and we can help you get the dog, but they need out immediately or are in danger of being pts!!

Description
Partners for Pets, Inc
OUR MISSION:
We are organization providing support to the Clayton County Animal Control of Georgia shelter by increasing the chances of adoption for the animals. This is accomplished by on site volunteer work for the dogs, as well social media which allows us to collect donations and increase visibility of our animals on the social media rescue network. We have created a Non-Profit Corporation called Partners for Pets, Inc. We have filed for our 501c3 status and are awaiting the final paperwork to arrive. We cannot provide tax receipts until we receive the final paperwork. This is a volunteer effort, and in no way is affiliated with CCAC, though we work as partners to help homeless animals. We therefore have NO say or control with respect to fate of each animal marked for euthanasia. We are simply a group of volunteers who care deeply about the animals at this facility. As such, remember to be polite in your correspondence and comments.
Who are Partners for Pets, Inc?
We are a group of volunteers who advocate for the animals at CCAC. We take pictures, to encourage rescue/adoption of the animals here. We collect funds to vet, board, and transport dogs from Clayton. Essentially we serve as a liaison between rescues and the AC facility.
Who helps run this FB page?
We like to say “IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO SAVE A CLAYTONDOODLE“. (We lovingly refer to the dogs here as such.) Amy is an administrator and created this page. Maria, Jennifer, Bonnie and Allison are content creators on this page. They post pictures/create albums/give updates and make comments to the page. Mia is an out of state volunteer that updates the page, helps answer questions and posts things when others are busy on site at the shelter or transporting dogs. Sara, Erina, Lauren, Teresa and Chantal are Moderators on this page. Generally, we are using the power of Social Media to help save our animals!
How do the albums work on the FB page?
We have several volunteers that are responsible for taking and uploading dog pictures to the “URGENT” album. There are only some days we are allowed to take pictures and there are too many dogs at our shelter and too little help to get them outside and take pretty pictures. Often a dog comes in on Saturday and is put down Tuesday am so ANY picture even if not “pretty” may help save his/her life. After euthanasia day, it takes about 24 hours before pictures are moved to the Rainbow Bridge album. Not every dog has a picture as some may be unavailable due to aggression, legal issues or possibly has not been there long enough to get a picture taken. Please email for available date before driving in to rescue or adopt. We also have an album titled “CLAYTONDOODLES“. This album has dogs that were pulled for rescue, but were abandoned and now are in long term foster or boarding situations.

HOW TO PLEDGE/DONATE:
*************************************
When you pledge it means that you will give XX dollars for a dog. This helps rescues to step up as it is costly to vet and board and transport animals. Every night before euthanasia a group of west coast volunteers tally pledges and send them in an excel sheet to Maria/Amy so they have that information in the morning for rescue organizations. It is expected that the money is in PayPal within three days of rescue, so that it can, in turn, be given to the rescue that pulled the animal. We ask that pledges be sent to us because we often pay for vetting the dog, boarding and transporting the dog with these pledges. Any money not spent on these things is sent on to the rescue who took the dog. If a dog you sent money for is euthanized, we will gladly refund you. Please send a request in writing to ccacpartners and jmd...@earthlink.net. If we do not get a request for a refund, we will put that money toward saving another dog of our choice. We are close to starting the use of a general Chip in for Tuesday and Friday euthanasia days.
In order to donate, you can send a check to:
Partners for Pets
PO Box 2181
Jonesboro, GA 30237
-OR-
You can make a payment via PayPal to account pay...@partners4pets.org (click service and indicate animal number and name of dog if possible in the memo).
Keep in mind that pledges do not guarantee that a dog will be kept safe. There is no magic amount that can be raised. We try to get as much as possible, because it encourages rescues to step up. The more money that is raised, the more money the rescue will have to help with vetting, boarding, transport and so on.
FAQ:
Why should I send my pledges to Partners with Clayton County Animal Control instead of directly to the rescue group?
Sadly, we have had people collect donations for dogs that they have not rescued. We want to make sure ALL the money you donated goes to the RESCUE of the dog of your choice. In many cases we vet, board, and transport dogs in order for them to get to their rescue groups/adopters (dogs MUST be vetted before they can go into boarding). All of those things cost US money out of OUR own pockets. Whatever pledges have been sent in for the dog are then used to cover such expenses, and whatever is leftover is then sent on to the rescue group. If we can't get reimbursed for at least some of these costs, then we will not be able to continue doing this. Then these dogs won't have any exposure and it'll most likely go back to 85% of dogs here being euthanized. This is why it is so very important that we receive the pledges first, so that we can continue to vet, board, and transport dogs without it coming out of our own pockets. None of us are millionaires, but all of us want to continue helping the dogs! Please help us help them.
How do I contact a “Partners” volunteer?
Please, be mindful that we receive MANY emails, and do our very best to get back to you in a timely fashion. We ask for your patience.

Why do we ask that pledges be sent to us?
We are a Georgia licensed Non-Profit Corporation called Partners for Pets, Inc. We are not affiliated with Clayton County Animal Control. We are 100% volunteer group with 100% of the money raised going to the dogs at CCAC and their health and rescue. Please understand WE DO NOT KILL ANY ANIMALS or have any say in which animals are euthanized. We ask that pledges be sent to us because we often pay for vetting the dog, boarding and transporting the dog with these pledges. Any money not spent on these things is sent on to the rescue who took the dog. If a dog you sent money for is euthanized, we will gladly refund you. Please send a request in writing to ccacpa...@gmail.com and jmd...@earthlink.net. If we do not get a request for a refund, we will put that money toward saving another dog of our choice. We are close to starting the use of a general Chipin for Tuesday and Friday euthanasia days.
Why is Clayton such a high kill shelter?
In this particular county, many animals are not spayed or neutered which leads to a severe problem with overcrowding in the shelters. In addition, owner surrenders in this county pour in on a weekly basis. Some dogs arrive, are surrendered by their owners and euthanized immediately due to crowded conditions. Because of overcrowding, there can often be unexpected days where the vet is called in to euthanize animals. This is why all animals are urgent at our shelter.
What days are animals euthanized?
Euthanasia days are Tuesdays and Fridays and the doors are closed by 830 am so there is a very brief period of time in the morning where a rescue can claim an animal. Additionally, there can be “surprise” euthanasia days when the shelter gets over crowded. If this happens no animal is safe regardless of their available date. They are NEVER safe unless they are physically out of the shelter so 100% of our animals are urgent. We are begging for rescue groups to help (even out of state) as we have so many wonderful animals!
How much time does an animal get prior to euthanasia if they are at CCAC?
If the dog is an “owner surrender” he or she can be euthanized on arrival and are the first to be put on the euthanasia list. If the dog is a “stray” then he or she is given 4 days (including the day they come in), and animals picked up during eviction get 10 days. However, if the shelter becomes overcrowded the date does NOT matter.
What does “REDLINED” mean?
The day before euthanasia day each animal’s card is marked with a red line to indicate they are scheduled to be put to sleep/euthanized. .Often this information is not released until very late the day before euthanasia. Dogs that are REDLINED will be euthanized on Tuesday and Friday at 0845 eastern time. We MUST have a rescue commitment and a firm plan in place by 0730 that morning to save a dog.
Does this shelter work with animal rescue organizations?
This AC facility is WILLING TO WORK WITH OUT OF STATE RESCUE via Partners volunteers. If you are a rescue group and need help with arrangements, please email Maria at jmd...@earthlink.net, ansea...@gmail.com, ccacpa...@gmail.com.
I am a RESCUE in Georgia. What do I need to do to save a dog?
In order to pull from this shelter, you must provide a license from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. The shelter does not charge a pull fee for licensed rescues. Pledges can help with vaccinations, boarding and transport of the dogs. Any pledges received will go toward expenses for that dog first and then any money left is sent to the rescue. Please be aware that we do deduct money to pay for these services if the dog has them here. Rescues please have copy of Department of Agriculture license and permission form and if you are sending someone other than the license holder they need a picture I.D. If you would like to save a dog from this shelter on the evening before euthanasia, you MUST have a firm plan in place for the dog to be pulled by a Georgia licensed rescue group and let us know by 7:30am euth day. We will not be able to keep the dog safe if we do not have all info by then AND the dog must leave the building by 3:30pm that day. We cannot hold dogs for people with no plan in place. This is just not possible with the amount of crowding here.
I am RESCUE outside of Georgia. What do I need to do to save a dog?
You MUST be willing to do a few things: provide a copy of your license to us, be willing to work with a rescue group in Georgia that can coordinate pulling the dog for you, fund the dog as far as initial vetting, boarding ($10/day), and transportation. Also, you must find an in state rescue group to help you with this process. Please email us to request help to contact the rescues in Georgia we work with. jmd...@earthlink.net, ansea...@gmail.com, and ccacpa...@gmail.com. If you would like to save a dog from this shelter on the evening before euthanasia, you MUST have a firm plan in place for the dog to be pulled by a Georgia licensed rescue group and let us know by 7:30am euth day. What is the shelter policy regarding Pit Bulls?
Clayton has many pit bulls, which can only be rescued, NO adoptions. There IS a worse fate for these animals beyond Clayton and that’s being picked up and used as a bait dog or in dog fighting. But we desperately need help with getting our pitties rescued so PLEASE contact a rescue coordinator if you can help! If you want to adopt a PIT BULL you must work with a rescue group.
Is there veterinary care available at CCAC?
Yes! Our vet offers low cost shots for animals. Our vet is very rescue friendly and has a tough job but is also a huge advocate for our disadvantaged animals. All vetting is done through pledges or at the cost of the rescue group or individual adopting the animal.
How can I help the animals of Clayton and get involved?
1) Pledge money for sponsorship
2) Share our page and encourage people to “like” it as that increases our exposure.
3) Share our animals (all are urgent) with rescues and individuals looking to adopt.
4) Volunteer to transport animals as we really need help!
5) Bring toys, bones and dog food to the shelter. We try to give dogs treats when we can—especially the night before euthanasia if they are red lined.
6) Fundraise for us in your own community if you live out of state! Adopt us at Clayton as your shelter!
7) Come walk dogs for us so that they get some exercise!
Are there any rules about this page and cross-posting?
DO NOT post animals on CRAIG’S LIST! Also, keep your comments positive in nature and about helping the dogs. Please, DO NOT post chip ins on this page. If you post them, they will be removed, and if it persists you will be banned. It is sad, but we have had MANY people claiming they are rescuing a dog and posting chip ins only to take people’s money and leave the dog behind.
QUESTIONS REGARDING ADOPTION FROM CLAYTON ANIMAL CONTROL:
How much does it cost to adopt an animal friend from CCAC?
For each animal adopted a portion of the fee is the actual adoption fee but the remainder is applied toward a rabies vaccine and spay/neuter.
Animal, total cost, adoption fee, Rabies shot, Spay/Neuter CREDIT
DOG (female) $75 $25 $10 $40
DOG (male) $65 $25 $10 $30
CAT (female) $65 $25 $10 $30
CAT (male) $55 $25 $10 $20
What are the rules about spay and neuter of animals adopted from CCAC?
All animals adopted from Clayton County Animal Control must be spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption. A low cost spay/neuter certificate will be issued to adopting families at the time of adoption. There is a monthly low cost spay and neuter clinic held at CCAC as one more option.
I want to adopt a dog and I can come to the shelter to adopt. How do I do that?
The only way to directly adopt is to come in to CCAC and pay the adoption fee and take the dog home with you. If you are in a neighboring state, please consider driving in to adopt. Some dogs will not be available as soon as they are posted, so please contact the shelter to find out their release date.
How do I adopt a dog when I don't live in Georgia?
To adopt a dog without coming in to CCAC there are certain requirements to be met. We can put you into contact with a local Georgia licensed rescue to pull the dog for you. They will have you fill out an application and will require references and possibly a home check. You will have to sign an adoption contract with the rescue. Most contracts say that you cannot give the dog to anyone without their (rescue) approval first so the dog must be for you. The rescues we work with generally require a minimum deposit up front. If pledges come in to offset the expenses then you will be refunded part of your deposit. Transport is generally $150, shots around $50, health certificate $25, spay or neuter around $65-$85 plus someone may have to be paid to take the dog to the clinic, boarding is $10/day so you can see that expenses add up. If the dog gets sick, it may be your responsibility to pay for vet care. If you agree to all this, then we will put you in contact with a Georgia licensed rescue. We do not believe in free dogs. That would not be good for the dog, just like giving a dog away on craigslist. The first step is to email ccacpa...@gmail.com, jmd...@earthlink.net and ansea...@gmail.com.
Can I foster a dog in order to save it?
The short answer is no. Please contact your local rescue groups if you would like to be a foster. We are not a rescue and therefore, it will not be possible for you to foster any dogs for us.
