InWindows 10, I make the tray 6 the default in the printer driver, so if we print an email for instance, it prints on plain paper. In Word if I want to print a two-page document, I set the first page letterhead (tray 4) and second page letterhead (Tray 5). It then prints both pages on tray 4.

Another bigger problem is most print jobs, all set as letter (8 x 11), kicks up an error about paper type being wrong on the HP display. If I open the expected tray and close it, it will print. But then back to the HP dashboard and my paper tray no longer says letterhead, but says plain.

I just downloaded the HP Universal print driver to try tomorrow when no one is in the office. Am I missing something? This all worked fine on our HP 4350 with all the same bins, but in a different order (it had a dedicated envelope attachment which is now a tray). Any input would be appreciated.

The problem turned out to be using the HP m607 driver. I changed to the HP universal print driver and the problems disappeared. You kind of expect the driver written specifically for a printer would work properly.

I just replaced my old M607 with a new one. I keep my Check Stock in Tray 3 and Plain Paper in Tray 2. Both are normal size. I set all of my normal jobs to Tray 2 and my Quickbooks checkwriting to tray 3. The HP607 employs Automatic Selection to over-ride my choice of trays. In this manner often my reports sometimes write on check stock. How do I disable or remove AUTOMATIC TRAY SELECTION.?

As it turns out, we gave up. I went back to my old m607 with my old drivers, and from another post I read here..... changed the fuser kit. Every thing works... There was something about the new M607 that did not want to accept that we had checks in one drawer and paper in the other.

RepairATrooper...thank you for your suggestion... and I DID find out where it went... It did not work... but it was not your suggestions... It was the Faulty printer.... I am not sure why, but I am glad I read these posts and found the one about the random Grinding noises coming from the fuser... Saved me and my customer!!!

I will go into office early Monday Morning and check... I am not familiar with the graphic you are showing... Is it in DEVICES&PRINTERS // Printer Preferences or in the Window on the printer under TRAYS ?
