SuperMario Star Road is a hack made by Skelux. It was released around Christmas 2011, and contains 130 Power Stars. This hack is known for being the best, and most well-known Rom Hack out there. This is due to the similarities to Mario 64 in terms of difficulty and game play as well as some of the best level design even today.

This hack is one that tries to be a sequel or another version of the original, in terms of level and star design, difficulty, and plot. This hack is very different than Mario 64. Not only are all the levels redone using custom graphics, some of which directly come from other Nintendo 64 games, but also includes custom music and even custom enemies, while, other enemies in the game are recolored. The level entrances range from simple pipes or warp point in a picture, to a vase or easel. In addition, the main boss fights have changed. Bowser himself is only fought once in the game, though there are 3 Bowser levels in which Mario must defeat a mini boss in order to obtain the Key to the next area.

The plot of the game is told through Yoshi who informs Mario that Bowser has found the secret to get to the Star Road, the kingdom of the Star Spirits. Using the power of the Power Stars, he is able to transport his troops from the Star Road all over the Mushroom Kingdom to cause havoc. In order to reach the Star Road, Mario must collect enough power stars to break the seal (of the cannon). Once Mario reaches the Star Road , Mario finds Bowser in his sky base on a rainbow road. Unlike the original, once Mario defeats Bowser, he is transported to the first overworld where he is rewarded with another star and a thank you from Peach.

But, upon collecting 121 Stars (You get a star after beating the Hidden Palace Finale), and reaching the peak of Hidden Palace Finale, 9 Star Replicas will appear in every secret level in the game. The Star Replicas can't be collected before collecting the Power Star of the Hidden Palace Finale! For reference these are: Mushroom Mountain Town, Creepy Cap Cave, Puzzle of the Vanish Cap, Bowser's Slippery Swamp, Sandy Secret Slide, Retro Remix Castle, Windy Wing Cap Well, Bowser's Rainbow Rumble, and lastly, in the Hidden Palace Finale itself.

Star Way is a road of sparkling stars that connects Shooting Star Summit to Star Haven in Paper Mario. After Mario rescues the Star Spirits, they join together in a circle to create a winding, spiraling path of stars to help Mario and his party members reach Star Haven. The only enemies that occur are Embers.

In the Japanese version and the iQue version, this path is known as "Star Road," the same name given to the path to Star World in Super Mario World and Geno's home in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
