Class,

The readings for next week's class on suburbanization and ghettoization are up on the google group.  You can skim Segregation in the Second Ghetto (focus on the beginning and the end), but the other two articles should be read in full.

Happy weekend!

Hi prof, the readings for this week are not up on the Googlegroup. I tried to find them online, but I couldn't.

I don't think Professor Wakefield added any readings for this week.
All we had to do was answer the questions given to us based on the
documentry Raquiem of Detroit. However, I may be wrong, please
advise.

The full video of Raquiem of Detroit can be viewed here

Class,

Brian is correct -- as I said in class last week, we will continue the
discussion of suburbanization and ghettoization tomorrow evening, and
I will also bring in themes from the "Discrimination & Segregation at
Work and on the Housing Market" week on our syllabus. The two topics
are very closely related and we will benefit from discussing them
together.

For those who were asking, the readings for that week (Discrimination
and Segregation) are on the google group now. They are very short and
you should plan to look them over before class tomorrow.  That said,
don't kill yourself over them. I will explain the key ideas fully in
class.

All the best,
SW

Class,

Let me put my previous email about the readings a different way: it
would make me very HAPPY if you can take a moment to look throw the
readings for the week on Segregation and Discrimination... however,
that said, it is by no means your fault that they weren't up on the
google group all week, so just do what you are able - capice?

In other news, the lecture notes are up on the google group now.

Hi Alexis,

We watched a film on Detroit called Requiem for Detroit.  It about an hour or so long, and its quite interesting.  You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OpXhd7iau8.  If the link doesn't work just go to youtube and look up Requiem for Detroit.  I have attached the homework assignment for the film, so take a look!

Sincerely,
Sharisse Cheng
