Hi all,

Please see the below call for participation, and feel free to forward it to anyone you think might be interested.  Thanks!

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Hello fellow interactive artists and creators,

  • Do you have a piece of art or interactive project finished but nowhere to show it?
  • Do you have a great idea in your head, but need a reason to create it?

urbanSTEW is partnering with the Phoenix Fringe Festival (April 2nd-11th) to curate pieces that are interactive and participatory in nature. This could include but is not limited to:

  • interactive installations, interactive sculpture, or live performances suitable for lobbies or sidewalks around Fringe venues
  • interactive mobile phone apps
  • online art

If you have finished or planned work that fits this description, urbanSTEW wants to help you show it at the Phoenix Fringe Festival!

We are planning to set up several interactive works all over downtown Phoenix at various Fringe performance sites, as well as websites, offering significant traffic through your work.

Projects can be new ideas, or simply works that you've already developed but have not yet had the chance to present to a larger audience.

If you will need to buy materials to complete your project, urbanSTEW will be applying for grants to help fund projects.** If your project needs funding, please briefly answer the questions below and submit them in a response email to jes...@urbanSTEW.org no later than January 10th.

If your project does not need funding from urbanSTEW, then please send only a brief paragraph description about your project to jes...@urbanSTEW.org no later than January 14th. You can use the questions below to help you shape your paragraph if you are at a loss for words. :)

We look forward to reading your submissions and helping you bring your work to the Phoenix Fringe Festival!

Sincerely,

urbanSTEW

QUESTIONS FOR PROJECTS SEEKING FUNDING

**All materials from urbanSTEW received grants will become urbanSTEW property unless discussed otherwise in advance.

Project Title

Primary Contact (first and last name)

Project Description
How will it manifest itself physically? What will it look like, sound like, etc? Are there any restraints on the type of location it can be presented?

How is your project interactive? Consider the audience, the physical environment, and the community as a whole.

How will your project encourage interaction? How will you engage your audience?

Is the project collaborative? In what ways? Who will help you create your art project? If relevant, also discuss briefly the roles of partners or volunteers.

Are there materials you do not have access to that would determine the success of your project? What are these materials and how will they be used?

Supplemental Materials:

If you are submitting a project that is already complete, or is something that you are already working on, please include any supplemental materials you may have: drawings, technical sketches, digital images, video, etc. Please do not submit examples of past work not pertaining to the project you're submitting; only submit images and materials relating to this project. The more we have, the better. If submitting video, we suggest submitting no more than 5 minutes of video. Please attach images to the response email and send us a link to your uploaded video.
