Jewish Sexual Ethics
Sept. 22
7:00 p.m.
Taught by Jan Rabinowitch!
Congregation Beth Israel
1972 NW Flanders
Teacher: Jan Rabinowitch
When it comes to sex, sin and sorcery, you can't beat Jewish texts. We'll start with the Genesis texts that caused later Jewish thinkers to question the gender of the first human being and to speculate on Adam's sex life, read a midrash about his "other wife", and study a sampling of later rabbinic comments on the nature of women before turning to contemporary mystical writings on the spirituality of the male-female sexual relationship.
The event is on Tuesday, August 23 starting at 6:00 p.m. and is a special screening of the movie “Wrong Way to Hope” (a documentary about young adult cancer survivors on an adventure trip in Oregon) and there will also be live music by a local Portland band. It’s a free event and we are inviting different community groups to raise awareness of AYA issues.
