Do you have kids?

When we started this list, the goal was to reach folks who were post-college and pre-kids. I am not kicking anyone off and you can hang as long as you want. But I would like to help you find other resources relevant to your current life stage. You might check out PJ library, which provides free Jewish books and multimedia for children aged 0-6 so parents can read with their children. They also send out a monthly newsletter with opportunities for parents, kids, and families from throughout the Jewish community. Learn more at http://www.pjlibrary.org/communities/community-detail.aspx?id=101.

Food Leadership Grant

The Hazon Portland Leadership Project: Engaging Portland’s Jewish Community Through the New Jewish Food Movement grant seeks to identify, train and support a cohort of leaders who will strengthen and expand community engagement programs in Portland.  Applicants must demonstrate strong ability and desire to work in a grassroots setting to create engaging programming and build community, particularly around issues of sustainable agriculture, food justice and Jewish food traditions.
Upon acceptance into the cohort, participants will:
Receive full/partial funding to attend the Hazon Food Conference
 Attend one pre-conference leadership training.
Work as a group to identify main project themes and strategies post conference, then bring these to the community for feedback (Fall 2011)
Be invited to submit a mini-grant proposal for funding for Jewish food education projects to be carried out Jan-September 2012.

Participants will work with Hazon staff and community partners to gain leadership and program administration skills, and have the chance to be part of exciting growth of the New Jewish Food Movement in Portland!
To apply: Fill out the scholarship form, which you can find here, by July 15.  Applicants will be notified by July 22.  Please note that attendance at the Hazon Food Conference (August 18-21) is a mandatory component of this program — please make sure you are available!  Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from the Conference in Davis, CA.
