There will be lots of 1 to 2 minute spots and everyone will be given
opportunity to contribute in writing.
You are invited to
experience an evening of stimulating speaking,
and listening about the deeply important topic, Peace. The purpose of
this
event is to "foster human understanding and contribute to the betterment
of mankind". We’re planning this event to be a local model that will
use the power and reach of Toastmasters International to help to create a
peaceful and just world.” The
event will be held in the McIntire Room at Central Library at 7 PM on
Monday,
August 9, 2010.
This evening of discourse will be structured somewhat like a
Toastmasters
meeting. There will be six presentations by skilled speakers, from
Toastmasters
and the community. Presentations will include: Understanding body
language
across cultures, a theatre piece based on Dialogue on Race, making peace
with
life, Drums No Guns: Performance Art to Promote Peace and may
(hopefully) include
the experience of peace, connection (... Oneness.) There will be approx. 15 minutes for attendees
to add
their voices and share their passion for Peace. Everyone that attends
will be
asked to contribute their feelings, needs and ideas for peace and justice... via pen and
paper,
and all comments will be collected and made available to all attendees.
Remember: 7 PM on 8/9/10 Peace Talks
at Central Library.
