2014 Frank Robinson Celebrity Golf Invitational
Urban Youth Academy
We write to invite you to attend this year's annual Frank Robinson Celebrity Golf Invitational to be held on November 10th at the Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles. Attendees will enjoy 18 holes of golf and dinner alongside current or former professional athletes including several Hall of Famers, as well as Hollywood stars.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit entity, that operates the MLB Urban Youth Academies. Operating facilities are located in Compton, Cincinnati, Houston, and New Orleans. The Academies offer year-round baseball and softball instruction, educational assistance, gang resistance, mentoring, and career path assistance to the youth of our communities. All programs are free of charge to willing and interested youth.
Founded in 2006, the Compton MLB Urban Youth Academy has seen nearly 300 alumni go on to play collegiately, nearly 100 players drafted, and seven players fulfill the ultimate dream of reaching the Major Leagues. In 2014 alone, we saw over 2,000 youth register as members of the Compton UYA.
You can help support these facilities and programs by joining us on November 10th. This event will surely be a Hall of Fame experience for all with the hopes of helping future generations reach Cooperstown or their own chosen path of professional success.
