According to a report today in the The Planetizen, IBM has responded vigorously to the discovery of unlicensed use of its software by the City of Cleveland.  Let this be a warning to others!

The March 23, 2013 New York Times carried a fascinating article on Mayor Bloomberg's "geek squad" which has demonstrated great expertise in leveraging data to solve some of the city's problems.

There is a Call for Papers for Urbannet at the European Conference on Complex Systems 2013.  The perspectives espoused by the USC would fit very well into this parallel conference.
