In the past year, we have witnessed how ephemeral liberated zones can be if we don't seek to include the entire world in its embrace. Kamau Franklin told us during the Intercommunalism panel on Valentine's day:
 
What happens to a liberated territory that is surrounded by a worldwide capitalist system? It gets surrounded, it gets acted upon, it gets directed, and it gets derailed. Massacres can also occur. So, when we look at the idea of liberated territory, it does not work unless we are challenging the larger state at hand. It does not work unless we are sure that we’re not seeking only to capture small islands, which effectively become Bantustans. The idea of liberated territory works best when there’s a complete understanding that this may be a place for us to organize in. But it’s a space which is going to come under constant attack. And it is a space where we have to be able to mobilize from and to give up at times.

Next Saturday, we invite you to join us to learn from and to celebrate the radical municipalist reforms in the Chilean district of Santiago, Recoleta. A majority working class and immigrant commune of the capital city, the former activist mayor Daniel Jadue created a liberated territory during his tenure, by introducing people's universities, libraries, and pharmacies that sold medicine at cost.

Unfortunately, he is the victim of a rightwing and neoliberal attack because of his people's pharmacies. Daniel Jadue has been incarcerated since June 2024 and is currently under house arrest. We from our respective places will rally as a global municipalist movement for his and our collective freedom.

En el último año, hemos sido testigos de lo efímeras que pueden ser las zonas liberadas si no buscamos incluir al mundo entero en su abrazo. Nos lo dijo Kamau Franklin durante el panel Intercomunalismo el día de San Valentín:
 
¿Qué le ocurre a un territorio liberado que está rodeado por un sistema capitalista mundial? Se rodea, se actúa, se dirige y se descarrila. También pueden producirse masacres. Así que, cuando consideramos la idea de territorio liberado, no funciona a menos que estemos desafiando al estado más grande en cuestión. No funciona a menos que estemos seguros de que no buscamos sólo capturar pequeñas islas, que de hecho se convierten en bantustanes. La idea de un territorio liberado funciona mejor cuando se entiende que puede ser un lugar en el que organizarnos. Pero es un espacio que va a ser atacado constantemente. Y es un espacio desde el que tenemos que ser capaces de movilizarnos y de rendirnos a veces.
El próximo sábado, te invitamos a unirte a nosotros para aprender y celebrar las radicales reformas municipalistas en el barrio chileno de Santiago, Recoleta. Comuna mayoritariamente obrera e inmigrante de la capital, el ex alcalde activista Daniel Jadue creó un territorio liberado durante su mandato, introduciendo universidades populares, bibliotecas y farmacias que vendían medicamentos a precio de coste.
 
Desgraciadamente, es víctima de un ataque neoliberal y de derechas por culpa de sus farmacias populares. Daniel Jadue está encarcelado desde junio de 2024 y actualmente se encuentra bajo arresto domiciliario. Nosotros, desde nuestros respectivos lugares, nos uniremos como movimiento municipalista global por su libertad y la nuestra colectiva.
