I am using the tool to model the accessibility of subway stations in
Shenzhen, in particular weighting the total building areas (floor
space area) that a subway entrance can reach within a walking distance
(for example, 500m radius). The purpose is to see any difference
between subway stations in terms of their potential usage.

I adopted the method that Andres suggested in this forum' post "Input
Options". The subway stantion entrances were drawn as circles and
added to building data layer with a zero weight in floor space area.
However, when I started to compute the centrality measues of UNA, an
error occured, saying:

ERROR 030024: Solve returned a failure.
Insufficient number of valid locations in "Origins" or "Destinations".
Failed to execute (Solve).

I have no idea what's going wrong. Is there anyway to solve the
problem?

Thanks,
Wang Haofeng

Dear Wang,

it is hard to tell what might cause your error from the information
above, do you see from the console at which 'step' the toolbox stops?
It could also be caused by an erronous network dataset. Have you tried
running other network functions on it successfully? Make sure that all
your subway points were successfully located on the network by
checking their attribute table and seeing if they all have network
coordinates computed from step 1.

If you get stuck, you can email us your dataset and we can take a
look.

Dear Andres,

Thanks for your answer. I forgot to save the info window and cann't
tell from the console at which 'step" the tool stops. But I will rerun
the analysis later to capture the error window. Meanwhile I will
follow your suggestion to check the data and see what happens then.

By the way, you mentioned the newest UNA tool with a powerful addition
would be released on April 2. But it doesn't seem to be there at the
download link. Could you please give me a direct link?

Thanks and regards,
Haofeng from Shenzhen University

Hi, it is in the download link, i just haven't update the written date on the page, will do so soon.

Dear Andres,

I rerun the tool without adding subway points to the building data
layer. But the problem still exists. The UNA tool stops at the step of
" Computing adjacency list". Following is the text copied from the
console:

Executing: Centrality building true SZ_network_ND true false false
false false FID # Length 500 1 # D:\data\test test #

ERROR 030024: Solve returned a failure.
Insufficient number of valid locations in "Origins" or "Destinations".
Failed to execute (Solve).

[1 failed]
Not successful

I am doing a very large database covering the main built-up area of
SZ. However, the street network doesn't cover all buildings. This
means there are buildings that are distributed outside the street
network and may not be located to a street within the search metric
radius. Is this a problem that may cause the error?

Thanks and regards,
Haofeng

Once It happened to me as well when I was exporting a shapefile of the street network from Autocad Map without the  "Length" attribute.
I solved it by adding the length attribute when exporting shp from Autocad Map
I guess the length attribute is used as impedance during the computation and if the length table is missing doesn't work, but that's just my guess, might be a completely wrong opinion.

Dear Damiano,

Thanks a lot for your advice. The error I encountered is due to data problem. I found several points were too far away from the road network and could be located during analysis. After those outliers were removed, the tools works fine as it should.

The error you mentioned is valuable. I will add it to my error list for the tool as a warning when having similar situation.

Hello Wang
I'm experiencing the same problem too, this time not related with the "length" attribute therefore might be the problem with the "too far" points.
How do you define "too far", what is the max distance from where the point has to be located? How can you detect the points located "too far" from the network in order to erase them?

Thank You
Damiano

Hello Wang
I had the ERROR 030024 but this time the problem was with the buildings dataset.

This time was solved:
buildings' layer (closed polygons) was drawn in CAD and exported as SHP but ArcGis was showing the ERROR 030024 when running UNA.
It finally worked when I exported the buildings' layer from CAD to SHP including the Properties attributes (as area, angle, center etc) from the Data attributes selection, during the export process from ArcMap 2012.
