Hello Daniele,
Nice to see you around the other day at DataBeersBCN :)
I ended up talking to so many people I didn't even make it to the bar!
My first reaction to the dataset containing crime statistics was
hahahaha!
From
opengov.cat we have been trying to increase awareness of the importance of access to information and we intend to keep on doing this.
Crime data is one of the datasets we requested from the Ajuntament during a few meetings between some of us datajournalists and some of them politicians. Basically, we handed a list of datasets we were interested in, like traffic accidents, crime statistics, light points, buildings owned by them, frequency of trains, etc, and they came up saying they had opened data about theatre spectators, information about venues, works of art in museums, etc, a few months later.
It was also information but had nothing to do with what we wanted. So we stopped those meetings. Their argument about crime info, if I remember well, was that it belonged to the Guardia Urbana and they could not access it either. Now with the change in government, maybe it is time to start again.
