The Application Submission System & Interface for Submission Tracking (ASSIST) system is used to prepare and submit applications electronically to NIH and other Public Health Service agencies. Prior to using ASSIST, applicants should identify a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to which they'd like to apply. FOAs are posted in the NIH Guide for Grants & Contracts and/or in Grants.gov each of which has robust search capabilities. The FOA text will indicate whether ASSIST can be used to apply to that opportunity. You will need the FOA number (e.g., PA-XX-XXX or LITC-ABCD-XX-000) to initiate an application.

Active Grants.gov and eRA Commons credentials are required to prepare and submit applications using ASSIST.

Every Dad knows how much stuff is needed for a day at the beach. We also know the pleasure of getting it there and back is usually ours. The Shibumi Shade is so easy to carry and put up by myself. Love it!

We don't recommend using the Wind Assist in moderate to high winds. Although the Wind Assist will remain safely attached even in high winds, we recommend removing it to avoid potential damage to your canopy from prolonged use in strong wind.

I contacted Shibumi asking for help with my Shibumi I ordered four years ago as it is really loud. I received an immediate response and they offered a great plan. The Shibumi really does the trick but is rather loud in strong winds. Hoping the wind assist will do the trick! Thank you Bryon Jennings!

Last year we saw a ton of Shibumis at Atlantic Beach, NC and I knew I needed one. I ordered and received it in time for a second beach trip to Duck where we had light and shifting winds. The experience using it was troublesome. When I saw your announcement about the Wind Assist, I immediately ordered one and luckily was in the first batch in time for our trip to Atlantic Beach. The winds are adequate but a little shifty so I am trying it out. First of all, the flapping sound is mostly eliminated and I find myself having to tend to it so much less. Great job.

I've just bought a Canon 430EX III-RT and for the most part I'm very impressed with this speedlight. However, when I try to set up the AF-assist IR beam both on and off my camera (Canon 90D) it won't work. I've gone into the sub-menu P.Fn 05 and selected "1". When I back out, however, the icon shown is for the standard flash, not the specific AF-assist IR icon. The red IR will not function. I have no problems with the master-slave off-camera flash function which I think is great.

The icon on the main flash LCD screen doesn't show if the IR assist is enabled or not. In PF.n-05 does show the IR assist icon. deebatman316 raises a good point, are you using AF servo focus mode on the camera? That mode prevents the IR beam firing as well.

Hi Bob, thanks for the quick reply. I actually found that suggestion in the long version manual but it has not helped. For some reason I cannot get the icon on the flash LCD screen to show the AF IR icon. Beginning to think this is a problem with the unit. I've only just bought it so it's under warranty. Just so inconvenient to return it by mail (as that is how I purchased it).

With the camera set to the center AF Point or Auto AF Point selection and the speedlite's AF Assist Beam projection method set to IR. Does the speedlite project an IR Beam at all or no beam at all. Try this test in a dark room so you can see the IR AF Assist Beam. Does the speedlite trying using Intermittent Flash Firing.

The 430EX III-RT IR AF Assist Beam only works with the center AF point ONLY. If auto AF point selection or the center and another point is set. Then the IR AF Assist Beam is projected also. You don't need to set the camera to IR Only. The speedlite's personal function controls AF Assist Beam projection method. Setting the camera to IR AF Assist Beam only. With the speedlite set to Intermittent Flash Firing. Results in NO type of AF Assist Beam emission from the speedlite. Note that the IR AF Assist Beam is INCOMPATIBLE with EOS R series cameras. Intermittent Flash Firing is still used. Regardless of the AF Assist Beam projection method.

Besides checking the icon on the flash, have you actually tried it on camera to see if it lights up red in the front of the flash with your lens cap on and pressing the shutter button?

If you are interested in a voice assistant that is not always listening, consider using Assist on an analog phone. It will only listen when you pick up the horn, and the responses are for your ears only. Follow our tutorial to create your own analog phone voice assistant.

I have two 5D Mark 3 camera bodies which I use to shoot weddings. At night's end, the lights are OUT and my camera cannot auto focus in such darkness or very low light, so I need the assist beam to help me out and turn on. My cameras are shooting in 'one shot' mode, and under the menu section AF, the AF assist-beam is enabled and 'on' yet still the red beam of light will not go on. What is happening here? The problem is doubled when I am trying to fire a flash either on or off camera, and because the auto-focus can't find anything to focus on (with no red assist beam to help) in such low light, the shutter will not work. I can override this but I'm still shooting in such low light, and my beam isn't going on to help. I haven't been able to find this exact issue on the message board--or folks say it resolved for them when they got out of AI servo and put their camera on One Shot mode, which I've already done. Thanks for help!!

Hi Mike, I am using a Yongnuo Digital speedlite YN600EX-RT flash. Is it a problem with my flash? I guess I am confused about where the red assist beam is emitted and controlled from--is it actually coming from my flash but controlled by my camera? Or emitted from the flash and controlled both by settings on my camera AND the flash?

There is a setting in the speedlite to turn ON or OFF the AF Assist Beam and one in the camera. It is likely the one on the speedlite is turned OFF. The speedlite settings override the camera body's setting.

Yongnuo sometimes has compatibility issues with certain features on many newer cameras. I bet if you were to try a Canon flash the AF Assist would work just fine on your two 5D Mk III cameras.

Could it also be an AF Point selection issue. I know older speedlites can't cover the 61 AF Point system that the 5D Mark III & IV use. When an older speedlite is used with an AF point the AF Assist Beam can't cover. The "IR" AF Assist IS NOT emitted by the speedlite. This limitation doesn't exist for speedlites that use Intermittent Flash Firing (Disco Flash).

Is the AF Assist Beam enabled on the speedlite. If the speedlite is set to "Disable AF Assist Beam" the speedlite won't fire an AF Assist even if the camera is set to "Enable AF Assist Beam Firing". Also what speedlite are you using. Note older speedlites often don't support the newer AF patterns that a newer camera has. Using an AF point that isn't covered by the speedlite's AF Assist Beam. Will result in the speedlite NOT emitting an "IR" AF Assist Beam. What off camera speedlite setup are you using.

I am using a Yongnuo Speedlite YN600-EX-RT that is at least 5 years old, maybe more (not sure) and I'm not sure how to enable the AF assist beam on the flash itself. Do you enable that through the flash directly, somehow, or via the camera it's attached to? Do you know what AF point I can't use to make sure the speedlite assist beam goes off?

This 3rd Party speedlite claims to work with Canon's Speedlite Control Menu. ( I don't know if it actually works). Speedlite Custom Functions can be changed from the camera's menu screen. Or put the camera in Full Auto (Green Square) Mode this overrides ALL Custom Function. To see if the AF Assist Beam works there. If it works there it must be a camera setting then.

When the user at the target computer moves the mouse, the cursor DOES NOT move in the control computer's session window. Items highlight when clicked by the user at the target computer - but no cursor movement. This creates two problems. . .

3) During a control session, the user at the target computer cannot capture screen shots. Several minutes after attempting to grab a screen shot, the target computer displays a dialog box stating "Your screenshot cannot be saved. Cannot write to intended destination." When not part of a remote control session, screen shots function as normal on the target computer.

4) There is no function for the user of the target computer to terminate a remote session from their end. The workaround presented during beta testing was to have the user lock their screen. This does indeed terminate the remote session, but presents a different set of problems. Many users set a hot corner to either Start Screen Saver or Lock Screen. And there's nearly no way for the admin at the control computer to know that ahead of time - unless the've enforced this setting fleet-wide, which I feel would be a bit too heavy-handed. As a result, it's way too easy for the admin at the control computer to accidentally move the cursor to a corner which is set such that it would unintentionally terminate the session.
