The big takeaway is that sometimes we wish we could turn back the clock and get a re-do...sometimes we do and other times we tragically don't.

At the end of the video is something that might help HG pilots in a similar situation.
Tying yourself off to the tree to prevent falling is a good idea no mater what wing type.
Secondly in a HG if you are hanging there and can't get free, have a means of getting yourself out of the glider/harness.
I don't know if anyone has done this before but I fashioned a relief step to put my boot in. The upper end of the relief step rope is tied to the keel of my hang glider up by the hang straps. The lower end has loop to put my boot in. I would use it to push my body weight up so I can unhook my carabiner or get up high enough to turn around and hook kife myself free from the hang straps.
The concept for the relief step for a HG is borrowed from the construction safety harness relief step. You can Google "construction safety harness relief step" to see those products.
