I sent this to Aron in private email...
Aron...the rod and gun club owner for Tusc called me to say the torrential rains yesterday softened the road too much.  Almost didn't get his truckload of stone out and the lower section of the access road had some damage.  Would prefer we not drive on it until it dries out, so I would say its a no go for today.   That might not be bad news, as while the wind direction looks good for most of the day, the gust factor/differential is expected to be over 10mph frequently.  With cloud base at 3000 to 3500 agl and cool air with no thermic activity and some rain expected mid afternoon, my experience with this site is that soaring is possible, but expect Mr. Toad's wild ride all the way to the deck..  Winds shifting to the NW and NNW historically increase turbulence there  and with no thermic activity to get you extra altitude you are challenged by the rough housing of the ridge lift only.  IMHO, on a scale of one to ten, the fun factor today would not have exceeded a three, but the thrill factor would be a nine...LOL...just sayin'

Decided to go to Harris Hill Sunday afternoon...ETA 2:30 pm.

Got a weed eater, shovel, grabbing hoe, chainsaw just in case of finding some work up there to do.

Thanks for the update on Tusc Steve...

I'm on launch at Harris.  Seems close to straight in.  12 gusting to 18.  Sailplanes are having a ball!!!

Seen a couple birds soaring.

I'm planning on waiting till around 5 and see if it mellows a bit...soarable now, but a little strong.

That's an ominous looking sky ...
Did it calm down for you today?

At Harris Sunday...

A violent storm came through around 4:30 and chased the sailplanes out of the sky...birds kepr flying...they hung on a bit longer till it got really crazy!

It was pretty wild up here, I'm guessing almost 40mph wind for a short period...once that passed it was a bit better but uncertain...

At 5pm  it was marginally flyable.  I decided to play it safe and sit it out...took a hike instead :)
