Dear Upstate Locavores,
Happy new year!
At our semi-annual potlucks, many of you have asked how you can support local farmers. We’d like to pass along some information about a special opportunity to do just that and to obtain locally-grown organic produce.
As described below, this year, the Clemson University Student Organic Farm is offering shares in their Campus Supported Agriculture (CSA) Market Program.
http://www.clemson.edu/sustainableag/csa_program1.html
This is a great way to strengthen the local food system and enjoy healthy, organic produce throughout the growing season (for 28 weeks, from the end of April through the end of November – for more than ½ the year!) Also, you will enjoy a great VARIETY of vegetables – check out the list of produce that you can generally expect to receive through your CSA share:

There are several ways you can join in this effort. You can purchase a full-share for you and your family. Or, perhaps you’re not sure you can eat that much produce in one week and/or you already know that you will be out of town for a part of the season. No worries – you can split the share with a family member, neighbor or friend. This way both of you can enjoy the benefits of the CSA share! Or, if you are a member of a local church, perhaps your congregation can purchase a share for a family who could not otherwise afford to purchase locally-grown organic produce.
However you choose to take advantage of this opportunity – on your own, in partnernship with a family member or friend, or by sponsoring a share for someone else – act quickly as shares are selling out fast!
Also, please pass this information along to any other individuals or organizations who may be interested in purchasing a CSA share.
Below you will find all the information you need to purchase your CSA share(s) – enjoy!
Sincerely,
Catherine and Ellie
