Happy New Year, from the Upstate Locavores!

 

We would like to inform you about a few changes on our end, as well as send along some information about some events:

 

(1)  Our previous website address (www.UpstateLocavores.com) is no longer active.  Our new website address is www.UpstateLocavoresSC.com.  We still need to add some content to the website, but wanted to let you know that the old address is no longer active.

 

(2) Upstate Locavores Potlucks:  Last year, we sponsored a series of potlucks (“Know Your Farmer”) where we featured local farmers from throughout the Upstate.  Nearly 150 people attended either one or both of the potlucks. It’s been exciting to witness such a strong growth of interest in locally grown foods! 

 

This year our theme will be:  “Sustaining Local Foods into the Future: Practical Steps for Moving Forward."  Our next potluck will be on a Thursday evening (5:30-7:30) in late April or early May. We will provide more information about the potlucks later – we hope you can attend!

 

(3)  Organic Gardening Classes:  This spring, several organizations will collaborate to offer an organic gardening workshop to the community – “Growing Vegetables Organically in the Home Garden."  Please see the attached flyer for more information.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in home-based organic gardening.  This should be a very popular workshop, so reserve your spot soon!  If you have questions about the workshop, please e-mail Kelly Gilkerson at kgi...@clemson.edu.
