Dear Upstate Locavores,

Many thanks to everyone for coming out to the Upstate Locavores Fall Potluck last week!  The food was excellent and our guest speakers provided us with a lot of great information about their efforts to supply our community with fresh, local meat, dairy, and egg products.

We'd also like to pass along some information about another opportunity for obtaining fresh, locally grown food, right in the heart of downtown Clemson.

The first "market day" for the Local Food Co-op is tomorrow, Thursday, October 14, 3:30-6:30 (see details below).  We hope you can come out to support the local farmers and get some fresh produce!   This is the first week of the market and the vendors hope to expand offerings in the upcoming weeks.

If you have any questions about the co-op, or if you are a farmer and would like to sell your produce, contact Lance Howard at lho...@clemson.edu

INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW LOCAL FOOD CO-OP:

All the farmers markets have closed but the season continues.  Some local farmers wish to offer their fall and winter harvests to the Clemson community.

For the next few weeks we are planning to bring whatever we have available for purchase to McClure’s Bookshop in downtown Clemson on Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30.

If you don’t know where McClure’s is, you should come just to shop there (but they will be closing at 5:00).

100 McCollum St. 864-624-9506.  (McClure's is located in downtown Clemson, just off of Keith Street, across from the old Keith Street Grille - now the new Daawat Cuisine Indian Restaurant).
