Subject: Alumni Society and patents

One of our alumni, Harry Vartanian, asked me to let our students and
colleagues know about the upcoming patent day. Would you mind
spreading the word; see message below.

The Engineering Alumni Society organizes and hosts a forum dedicated
to providing all University students a simple look at patents. It
brings together speakers from the USPTO, Fortune 100 companies, and
top law firms to explain the basic content of a patent, how to get a
patent, how patent licensing works, the University's patent policy,
and discuss careers in patent law. After an hour-long presentation on
these topics, the forum is opened for thirty minutes to answer any
questions from the students. The forum is given every two years in
the Spring semester at the Engineering school.

This year's event will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 6-7:30
p.m. in Wu and Chen Auditorium. The event will include speakers from
Lockheed Martin, Johnson and Johnson, GE Licensing, and the Penn
Center for Technology Transfer. Food and drinks will be served after
the event."

Thank you,

Jan
