Initiallyreleased as a PC and Xbox One exclusive, the critically-acclaimed Cuphead has just become available on PlayStation 4, giving a whole new group of players the chance to experience its unique art style and striking difficulty. While many of these new fans will prefer to take on Cuphead solo, others may wish to enjoy the title with their friends, leaving them to wonder if online multiplayer is available.

To get right to the matter at hand, players cannot start an online multiplayer session of Cuphead on PS4 through the game itself. That said, all may not be lost when it comes to playing the game from a distance, as some fans suggest that it is possible to use the PlayStation 4's Share Play feature to setup online cooperative play.

For the uninitiated, to use Share Play on PS4 a player simply needs to press the "Share" button on their DualShock 4 controller. From there they should follow the onscreen prompts to setup a Party with their friend and start a Share Play session, and this should essentially give Cuphead on PS4 a sort of online multiplayer support.

This is very similar to how PC players have been using Steam's Remote Play feature to setup online co-op Cuphead on that platform. While this approach may not be as streamlined as being able to simply launch online multiplayer from within the game, it is a suitable workaround for those fans that really want to experience co-op from afar.

To note, Cuphead for PS4 does support local co-op, which allows players to team up if they are using the same console. This is something that fans that cannot get Share Play to work properly may want to consider, though it is certainly not the best option when it comes to maintaining social distance.

While the absence of official online multiplayer support may be a bit disappointing to some fans, Cuphead's arrival on PS4 is still a big win for those players that have yet to experience the game. Additionally, it is possible that developer StudioMDHR will address this concern in a future update, though that does not seem extremely likely at this point.

Best Answer: No, Cuphead for Nintendo Switch will not have online multiplayer, just local two-player co-op. However, some cross-play functionalities with Xbox Live will be added in the coming months after launch, although we're not sure if online multiplayer is one of those features.Don't deal with the devil: Cuphead ($20 on Nintendo eShop)

For the uninitiated, Cuphead is a popular run-and-gun action game that was previously exclusive to Microsoft by being on the Xbox One and PC in 2017. It eventually came onto the macOS platform in 2018, and it is now coming to the Nintendo Switch on April 18, 2019. Unfortunately, PlayStation 4 will not be getting Cuphead.

In Cuphead, players take control of Cuphead or Mugman and face off against powerful boss fights in many strange new worlds. The best thing about Cuphead is the gorgeous art style, which features cel animation and watercolor backgrounds that harken back to the 1930s, like early Walt Disney cartoons. Everything is hand-drawn, and the game has an epic and original jazz soundtrack that just becomes the icing on the cake.

The thing about Cuphead is that it seems to be notoriously difficult, which may be a source of frustration among some gamers. However, just like with other "difficult" games, death in Cuphead is just a learning experience. The game is a lot of muscle memory when it comes to the boss fights, so each time you die is just another chance to improve yourself.

From what we can gather, the Xbox Live cross-play functionality will include achievements, at the very least. This is a given considering that other cross-play games, such as Minecraft, have achievements that sync back to your Xbox Live account.

While they could potentially add online multiplayer co-op for Cuphead with the future cross-play features, we're not sure how well it would perform. There is always the possible issue of latency and lag with online co-op, and Cuphead is a difficult game that's all about precision during those epic boss battles. It can still definitely happen since they're bringing in Xbox Live features, so we'll see.

That's correct, and at least for now. Local co-op for Cuphead will be playable in both tablet and TV docked modes. You'll be able to play with the standard Joy-Cons, but we aren't 100 percent positive if there will be support for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller since that information is not listed on the eShop.

Cuphead on Nintendo Switch is a challenging run-and-gun action platformer game. It utilizes gorgeous cel animation and watercolor backgrounds like in the 1930s cartoons, and there are single player and local two-player co-op. Xbox Live cross-play support is coming in the future.

First of all, i wanna thank you @Lucantoo and @MiNd_CrUsHeR for discovering this thing. Practically, if someone has already platinumed the game (or done some trophies) and then a friend of his joins in a local multiplayer game, if the friend beat (for example) a boss, he will unlock all of the bosses trophies. If the friend does a perfect parry, he will unlock the 20 and 100 parry trophies and so on. This works even for the pacifist trophy, so the friend will need to beat only a level to unlock directly the trophy.

I repeat: if one of your friends got the platinum and you join in his game by local multiplayer and do the trophy requirements, you will unlock all them automatically. This will cut tremendously the time to plat the game and will make the plat a walk in the park. But only in Local Multiplayer (Lucantoo and Crush doesn't know if this works even in Share Play).

A lot of achievement hunters are afraid of challenge. I could get if this was some awful game with bullshit mechanics, total RNG garbage that works completely against you more of than than not, etc, but that is far from the case here. Cuphead is great! Play it! Get better! Just playing it alone should make you want to get better, the sign of a great and fairly balanced difficult game.

It's either that, or it's what we all face: time challenges. Not many people want to dedicate time to a plat if it's going to take >15 hours, it seems. Which, okay, I understand, but move on. Stop expecting these things on a silver platter.

Where comes the satisfaction if you don't earn the trophies yourself? Cuphead is one of those challenging games I am looking forward to plat. It is a challenge but the satisfaction of getting that plat at the end of the journey is all worth it. I never understood the appeal in using these methods for these type of games. Its sad to see great challenging games getting devalued so much because of these exploits. Respect to anyone who gets the plat legimately. I personally hunt trophies for a nice challenge, not to get them served free on a silver platter.

If ya'll keep complaining when people post stuff like this, people will just stop doing it. If you want to play the game legit, then play it legit, but don't put helpful threads down because of your superior trophy morals.

Several years after its original release, Cuphead is still going strong. First released in 2017, the game is a shoot 'em up 2D platformer that features hand-drawn animations instead of traditional game graphics. It was widely praised for being a love letter to the golden age of animation with challenging and rewarding gameplay. Cuphead's legacy persists through a cameo in Super Smash Bros. as a costume, an animated series on Netflix, and a new DLC expansion launched in June 2022.

The game features plenty of bells and whistles, but fans are wondering if the game features online multiplayer. The game already has some multiplayer function and several playable characters. But can players join up with each other online? Here's what you should know about multiplayer in Cuphead.

In Cuphead, the titular cartoon character and his brother Mugman find themselves in a sticky situation. After losing a bet to the Devil with their souls on the line, they are forced to collect the contracts of the Devil's other debtors in order to wipe their slate clean. The boys must fight through a litany of zany and wacky bosses, all while trying to outsmart the Devil behind his back.

Players can choose to play as either Cuphead or Mugman. There's no real difference in their gameplay mechanics, so it boils down to whichever brother you're vibing with at the time. In the Delicious Last Course content released in June 2022, the game added a third playable character in the form of Ms. Chalice. She has a few unique moves, including a double jump and a dodge roll.

According to a Cuphead-related Reddit thread, there are hints hidden within the game's code that suggest that online multiplayer was going to be included, but evidently, that hasn't come to fruition. Some players on Reddit claim that they are able to "sorta" play online through Steam, but fans call the experience "too laggy" for a game that requires tight reflexes.

While the game lacks online multiplayer, is it at least available on Xbox Game Pass? After all, the game first started as an Xbox exclusive before getting ported to other systems in the years since its release.

Looks like there's no luck on that front either. According to Dot Esports, Cuphead has never appeared on Game Pass for subscribers to play at their leisure. If you want to play, you'll have to buy it like any other game.
