At LinkedIn, we are constantly evaluating our features and thinking about how we can best add value for our members and customers. As part of this process we may decide to upgrade or eliminate certain offerings so we can invest in the features that bring the most value. As a result of this we no longer support syncing contacts. All sources synced previously will stop syncing.

This is the fourth time I have updated this article based on LinkedIn interface changes. It is pretty easy to search your contacts by location, but this wasn't always the case. This update was prompted by minor UI changes.

Maybe you're moving to a new city, or you're headed across the country for a conference. Maybe you're like me and you've neglected networking for longer than you'd like to admit and you need to get back into it. Whatever the reason, being able to search your contacts by location is a feature we all need.

The reason I wrote this article the first time was because this feature was buried deep in advanced search. It wasn't in "My Network," where I expected to find it. Now, you can also search your contacts by going to "My Network."

I hope this helped you find the contacts you needed. I appreciate all the commenters on the previous versions of the article who have asked questions or let me know when the search interface has changed yet again. It has helped me keep this as up to date as possible.

A commenter on an older version of this article asked about downloading the search results list. There isn't a way to do that, but you can download all of your contacts and cross-reference the lists. See here: How to Export Your Linked In Contacts.

Once you export them into a spreadsheet file, you can use that list to retarget your contacts via an email campaign, use it as a backup in case your account is suspended, or pass them along to a salesperson from your team.

Are you searching for a method to export your LinkedIn Contacts and their email addresses? Whether you're in sales and are prospecting on LinkedIn, a recruiter, someone who regularly organizes your connections, or looking to become a trusted voice on LinkedIn, it's crucial to understand how to make the most of it.

All in all, it's a pretty intuitive process. Except, there's a catch. When you go to open your spreadsheet, you'll notice that something very crucial is missing; email addresses. Talk about a glaring omission. But, there is a method to the madness.

This external tool is perfect for recruiters or those that use LinkedIn for generating sales leads, and it also seems the easiest to use, but there are a few strings attached. Mainly, there's only so much you can do with the free version. To truly unlock everything they offer, you'll need to open your wallet and subscribe. It is, however, a popular choice.

Then let it work its magic. This extension will extract personal and business emails and phone numbers from your direct connections. The significant part is that it will extract email from almost any LinkedIn contact (1st, 2nd, and 3rd+ connections.)

According to the SalesQL experts, it's best to limit how many downloads you do in a 24-hour period, depending on your LinkedIn subscription, as their software does a scan of every profile you extract. You don't want to have any issues with LinkedIn. Again, this is only after you subscribe due to the default limit.

In addition to allowing you to download emails, Dux-Soup is automation software that can make it easier to identify potential prospects. It takes away much of the legwork involved so that you can focus on growth and the deal-closing stage. What makes this one worth the money for many is that it can handle, like most robots, many mundane tasks and frees up much of your time. It's kind of like a virtual LinkedIn assistant.

Dux-Soup offers three different plans; a Starter version that offers a basic prospect finder and supports your existing Business and Sales Navigator accounts, a Professional version that includes the ability to download CSV/XLXS files into your CRM and tag profiles with custom labels, and a Turbo version that includes all of the above, as well as a whole host of automation features, as well as Zapier/Hubspot integrations.

As I mentioned above, most of the other tools to uncover the email addresses of your LinkedIn contacts are similar enough that they can be grouped. These work best as lead generators rather than as archival tools.

In looking at this handful (and plenty more out there), they all essentially offer a similar outcome, with different tools along the way. What you're looking for will determine which LinkedIn tactics and services resonate best with you, how to export LinkedIn contacts with email, and other ways to maximize LinkedIn's value. Nota bene, Aspiration Marketing explicitly encourages you to follow the terms and conditions of each of the highlighted solutions providers.

Back in 2015, I wrote about how to turn off LinkedIn profile notifications so that your LinkedIn network wouldn't be notified every time you made a change to your profile. This used to include making changes to your profile photo, work experience, and some other things. Now, according to LinkedIn, your network will get notified when you make edits to an existing job, add a new job and when it's your work anniversary.

Since my old post is out of date and the instructions no longer work, I thought I'd put together some new instructions. These steps are pretty similar on both the desktop (in your Internet browser) and mobile app.

Maybe you're moving to a new city, or you're headed across the country for a conference. Maybe you're like me and you want to see how many of your contacts live nearby. Searching your LinkedIn contacts by location will help you reconnect with your network, but it's not as easy to do as you'd think it would be.

Your first instinct would be start at My Network > See All on LinkedIn, but there is no way to filter your connections by region. Even though location is a field that shows up in the contact records, it isn't searchable, so the keyword search does you no good either.

You've likely heard people say that your network is your greatest asset. So why not take the time to back your network data up? Fortunately, LinkedIn allows for users to export their data, and that everything from your activity to your contact.

You'll receive an email to the address associated with your LinkedIn profile within 10 minutes. The email contains a link to your privacy and settings section where you can download a zip file that includes a .csv file with your connections. Phew!

(1) Use it as a backup in case your account is suspended. Let the list sit somewhere safe, and use it as a backup in the event LinkedIn suspends your account. Fun fact: LinkedIn can suspend accounts who are too active or use sourcing tools. Consider backing up your contacts bi-annually and using them to re-build your network in a pinch.

(2) Add people to your contacts. If you have a well-established rapport with someone on LinkedIn, consider adding their details to your contacts on your computer or mobile. I recommend doing this with people you are in touch with on a consistent basis.

(3) Add people to your email list. Consider adding contacts to your mailing list. A word of caution: There's no greater way to turn someone off to your services or expertise than spamming them relentlessly, and just because you can add people to your list doesn't mean you should. Consider adding those who have given an explicit "okay" only.

You've put in a lot of work curating your LinkedIn network. It's likely full of professional contacts, such as past and current colleagues, mentors, and other people important to your career. That's why it's essential to protect your LinkedIn contacts by downloading them and storing them off-site.

You can export a list of LinkedIn followers and contacts from your profile anytime. LinkedIn lets you get a copy of your account data, including your connections, through the site's data and activity management page.

This will export all of your connections data to the email address connected to your LinkedIn account. The email will contain a link to access all of your contacts and the information they allow the platform to share.

It may take up to ten minutes for LinkedIn to prepare and send the information to your email. If you don't see it after ten minutes, check the filtered folders in your email to ensure it hasn't been marked as spam.

Once LinkedIn has exported your contact list, the site will automatically generate a file containing all that information. You can start downloading LinkedIn contacts to a spreadsheet with these steps:

LinkedIn no longer provides a native way to export phone numbers for your contacts. You can access your connections' public phone numbers by visiting their accounts individually. You can also use web scraping programs like Scraping Expert to gather information from these pages on your behalf.

First, download the connections from the account you want to transfer, following the steps above. Make sure you export them into a .CSV file so they're saved on your computer. LinkedIn should automatically generate a file that's structured to correctly add the contacts to your other account. The file should include each contact's first and last name and email, but you can go into the spreadsheet and add phone numbers and additional information.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator is an alternative to LinkedIn Premium. If you upgrade your LinkedIn Account, you can choose to upgrade to Sales Navigator to unlock a variety of sales and analytics tools to make it easier to build connections with your clients.

The contacts saved to your Sales Navigator account are even more important than those on a standard profile. Sales Navigator contacts are critical to your business because they are often the primary way you'll communicate with those customers. You should regularly export your contacts from LinkedIn Sales Navigator to ensure you can stay in communication even if something happens to your account.
