Jesus made the astonishing statement above that those who believe on Him as the Scripture has said, out of their belly shall flow rivers of living water. What are these rivers of living water? What does it mean to have these rivers flow out of our belly?

God wants you to give expression to the Holy Spirit. His power is inside of your spirit. You can experience it personally, and that is wonderful but not sufficient. He wants that power to be EXPRESSED through you, that is the flow out of you, to those around you. When you lay hands on someone and they become healed, you have just given tangible expression to the invisible power of God. A river of power has just flowed out of you! When you choose to love that neighbor who is seems to be unlovable, you have just given expression to the invisible character of God in you. A river of agape love has just flowed out of you! There are many rivers, of power, wisdom, joy, peace, and even financial prosperity! You have believed in Jesus so by your rights and privileges in Christ, rivers of living waters are meant to be gushing out of your belly!
Praise the Lord Catherine! Pleased to know the Lord has used this article to be a blessing to you. Thank you for the feedback and may the Lord cause you to know the abundance of living waters gushing out of your belly indeed!
And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.
Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar. Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate that faces toward the east; and behold, the water was trickling out on the south side. Going on eastward with a measuring line in his hand, the man measured a thousand cubits, and then led me through the water, and it was ankle-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was knee-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was waist-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen. It was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through. ...
And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. ...
Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar.
And in that day the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the streambeds of Judah shall flow with water; and a fountain shall come forth from the house of the Lord and water the Valley of Shittim.
A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. ...
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If
any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water
(John 7:37-38).

OUT OF YOUR BELLY SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATEROUT OF YOUR BELLY SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER 12/10/2006
Joh 4:6 And Jacob's well was there. So Jesus, tired as He was from His journey, sat down [to rest] by the well. It was then about the sixth hour (about noon).
Joh 4:7 Presently, when a woman of Samaria came along to draw water, Jesus said to her, Give Me a drink--
Joh 4:8 For His disciples had gone off into the town to buy food--
Joh 4:9 The Samaritan woman said to Him, How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan [and a] woman, for a drink?--For the Jews have nothing to do with the Samaritans--
Joh 4:10 Jesus answered her, If you had only known and had recognized God's gift and Who this is that is saying to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him [instead] and He would have given you living water.
Joh 4:11 She said to Him, Sir, You have nothing to draw with [no drawing bucket] and the well is deep; how then can You provide living water? [Where do You get Your living water?]
Joh 4:12 Are You greater than and superior to our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well and who used to drink from it himself, and his sons and his cattle also?
Joh 4:13 Jesus answered her, All who drink of this water will be thirsty again.
Joh 4:14 But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.
Joh 4:15 The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may never get thirsty nor have to come [continually all the way] here to draw.
Joh 7:37 Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink!
Joh 7:38 He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.
Joh 7:39 But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).
Rev 4:5 Out from the throne came flashes of lightning and rumblings and peals of thunder, and in front of the throne seven blazing torches burned, which are the seven Spirits of God [the sevenfold Holy Spirit];
Isa 11:1 AND THERE shall come forth a Shoot out of the stock of Jesse [David's father], and a Branch out of his roots shall grow and bear fruit. [Isa. 4:2; Matt. 2:23; Rev. 5:5; 22:16.]
Isa 11:2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord(The seven-fold Spirit of God)
Brothers and Sisters, how few of us live in this place. What is even worse is how few really believe that these words are true! There will be people who will object to my saying these things but this truth is not generally taught and despite our claims, we just do not believe the words above.
Jesus tells us the VERY SOURCE of this Living Water will be INSIDE OF US! So why do so many claim we must go somewhere else to get filled? Why must we be filled regularly if indeed the very source is inside of us? Why do preachers teach that we are to pour out our lives (when that is even talked about) and then come back to be filled again and again? What happened to the source that is supposedly inside of us? Why do we need to go anywhere to listen from anyone (besides the Holy Spirit) in order to be filled?
When we begin to really believe what the Lord is saying in these verses, when we come into the place where they are true in our lives, we will NEVER have to go anywhere again to be filled for we will ALWAYS be filled and always be overflowing!
Jesus said it, why dont we believe it?>>>> Joh 4:14 But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.
Notice that it MAY not happen immediately, but it DOES happen, and that does NOT mean that it will take 20 or 30 years !! The Water (the Spirit) that Jesus gives becomes a Spring inside of us and we will NEVER be thirsty again! NEVER!!! He says it twice! Then Jesus says that this Spring flows CONTINUOUSLY WITHIN HIM!!!! Once again we are told the SOURCE is inside of us, we should NOT have to GO somewhere in order to be filled for the very Source of that which we want to be filled is inside of us and it flows continually!
Is Jesus LIVING His Life inside of us or is He somewhere else? Are we NOT called His Temple?
Joh 2:19 Jesus answered them, Destroy (undo) this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.
Joh 2:20 Then the Jews replied, It took forty-six years to build this temple (sanctuary), and will You raise it up in three days?
Joh 2:21 But He had spoken of the temple which was His body.
Joh 2:22 When therefore He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this. And so they believed and trusted and relied on the Scripture and the word (message) Jesus had spoken. [Ps. 16:10.]
1Co 3:16 Do you not discern and understand that you [the whole church at Corinth] are God's temple (His sanctuary), and that God's Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you [to be at home in you, collectively as a church and also individually]?
1Co 3:17 If anyone does hurt to God's temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.
1Co 3:18 Let no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [let him discard his worldly discernment and recognize himself as dull, stupid, and foolish, without true learning and scholarship], that he may become [really] wise. [Isa. 5:21.]
1Co 3:19 For this world's wisdom is foolishness (absurdity and stupidity) with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their [own] craftiness; [Job 5:13.]
1Co 6:19 Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own,
2Co 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?
2Co 6:15 What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial [the devil]? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?
2Co 6:16 What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. [Exod. 25:8; 29:45; Lev. 26:12; Jer. 31:1; Ezek. 37:27.]
2Co 6:17 So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor, [Isa. 52:11.]
Eph 2:19 Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God's own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God's [own] household.
Eph 2:20 You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone.
Eph 2:21 In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord].
How many verses do we need to tell us the same thing, that WE are the temple of God and HE lives inside of us? If indeed HE is living inside of us, why do we think it necessary to drum up worship, praise, by emotionalism and the gathering together of those who claim to have the Living God inside of them to be filled once more? How can we gain more of the source if the very source is the ONE who lives in us?
Eph 5:16 Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.
Eph 5:17 Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.
Eph 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. [Prov. 23:20.]
I have been taught by a number of people that the verses above are in something called a continuous present tense; meaning that we are to be continually filled continuously with the Holy Spirit. Folks, that is EXACTLY what I am talking about. If we are truly being continuously be being filled with the Holy Spirit, why is it that we need to go someplace to get filled? Rather, we should be gathering together as FILLED people and seeing the VERY MANIFEST PRESENCE OF GOD in our midst.
If that were to happen, I guarantee that we would not be partying; we would be on our faces in abject repentance. When was the last time any of us saw something like Ananais and Sapphira happen in our midst? Brother and Sisters, those people DIED because they LIED to the Holy Spirit in His very presence. Do we honestly think that the same thing would NOT happen today if He showed up in the vast majority of our meetings? Do I need to remind anyone of the lies and deceptions that have been brought out in recent years in the leadership in many different congregations? And there have been worse things, abominations have even been brought out in the open and when has ANYONE seen somebody fall dead by the hand of God?
The ONLY way to always be filled with the Holy Spirit is to have the VERY SOURCE of the Holy Spirit Living inside of us. This is the same promise Jesus gave us in John 14.
Joh 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever--
Joh 14:17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.
Joh 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you.
Joh 14:19 Just a little while now, and the world will not see Me any more, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also.
Joh 14:20 At that time [when that day comes] you will know [for yourselves] that I am in My Father, and you [are] in Me, and I [am] in you.
Joh 14:21 The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.]
Joh 14:22 Judas, not Iscariot, asked Him, Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself [make Yourself real] to us and not to the world?
Joh 14:23 Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.
Joh 14:24 Anyone who does not [really] love Me does not observe and obey My teaching. And the teaching which you hear and heed is not Mine, but [comes] from the Father Who sent Me.
This is how it happens my friends. Jesus tells us exactly what we are to do. IF we love Him WE WILL OBEY HIM and THEN Father God, Jesus, AND the Holy Spirit WILL MAKE THEIR SPECIAL DWELLING PLACE INSIDE OF US! If they live inside of us; IF their HOME is in our spirits, then explain why would we ever need to be filled again? This explains the scripture that speaks about Jesus being closer than a brother. It explains everything so clearly, yet many will refuse to accept it, they will deny that it is true. Their lives and their thinking are shown clearly in John 14:24.
It IS actually that simple. The gospel IS SIMPLE. BUT, no one ever said it was easy! In order to live in this place, we MUST deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow Jesus in the same manner as HE followed the Father while on the earth. Phil 2 says the same thing.
Phi 2:5 Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]
Phi 2:6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained,
Phi 2:7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
Phi 2:8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!
Phi 2:9 Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has
