I apologize for the brevity of the post, and if this has been touched
on (a quick search says no) but I have the following complaint/
suggestion for the disc space call:

By the time you call disc space, the mark has already advanced in the
count by 1-2 seconds, negating the advantage in the count. If we were
to instead, make the call of "space" it would make it easier to use on
the mark. I am appreciative that multiple disc space and and fast
count calls keep the game moving, but if we make them a difficult to
say, then their use will decrease.

One could make the same argument for "fast count" being too many
syllables but the hard c in disc followed by the s in space can be a
mouthful. Perhaps an English PhD student or linguist can back me up.

We were contemplating "distance"... maybe it would be good to give
both words as options. right now, when someone says "distance", I
pretend he said "disc space" since he pretty clearly ment that rule...

Pretty sure "stop that" was being discussed. A better option in
hindsight, as it just rolls right off the tongue.

More seriously, if you're finding "disc space" to be a real struggle,
I'm sure you could swallow the "c" to speed it up, saying "dis
space." I think that's an easier solution than changing the name/
call, though your point on the speed is valid enough.
