【内容摘要】
Library 2.0 - Empowerment of People
The scope of the public library is enlightenment. It will continue to be so also in the future, but the concept of the library is changing. The main driver behind this change is the digital revolution. That is not only a new way of communicating but also a new way of dealing with information and knowledge, new ways of publishing and learning. This change is part of the globalization development and the need for innovation. The library can be seen as a prototype for the kind of institutional transformation that is and will be taking place in the knowledge society.
The library is becoming digital, but the physical meeting space remains and change. The traditional task of the library was to give access to books, the new role is to facilitate the use of information, knowledge, and culture. This change demands a new way of thinking and organizing the library. The library must develop services that meet the needs of different user groups and particularly think in terms of involving people, cooperate and share. The scope of the library becomes empowerment of people through lifelong learning, inspiration, participation and creation. The lecture will give examples of new services and new library spaces.

1997 Director general in The Danish Library Agency, responsible for the administration of the Danish Library acts and for the library infrastructure and library development. Administrating Denmarks Electronic Research Library
1995 Executive Director in The Danish Library Association Responsible for professional activities of the association including its publishing house and two journals.
1989 Head of department of consultancy and continuing professional education at The Royal School of Librarianship, Copenhagen Responsible for a yearly programme with 200 training and continuing education courses and a consultancy service.
1975 - 89 associate professor in history of literature at The Royal School of Librarianship, Aalborg Branch, for two periods elected head of branch.
1971- 77 assistant professor at Aarhus University, Institute of Comparative Literature
Author and co-author of several books and articles on literary and library subjects.
Books in English: Danish Library Policy (2002), Nordic Public Libraries (2002), New Trends in Scandinavian Public Libraries (1987), Public Libraries and the Information Society1997(EU-report).
