Hi everyone
World Usability Day is coming up in another 5 weeks from now, on Nov 12. This year’s theme is “Design for a Sustainable World”. (http://www.worldusabilityday.org/).
Since 2006, Bangalore has had a history of open, free, public events around World Usability Day. Events have included talks, unconferences, design competitions, poster exhibitions, and public awareness campaigns.
Each year, WUD Bangalore continues to interest more people outside the traditional design, technology and usability communities to come and share their views on ‘user experience’ in the everyday world. (Our favorite anecdote from 2008 is the Air India lady staffer who called up after seeing the giant WUD 2008 Banner at BIAL airport and thanking us for brightening up the place…)
In 2009, we are hoping to take up the event again and bring together various conversations and people around the theme of “design for sustainability”. We believe this year’s event will include not only digital design and ecologies but also architectural and social themes. Details will soon be put up on www.upabangalore.in
Some of the core volunteers from WUD events of the last few years (including Sandeep Datar, Sarit Arora, Muthu Rajamani, Sudhindra V, and others) are meeting on Tuesday, Oct 6 at 430 pm at the Yahoo Embassy Golf Links office (Inner Ring Road) to discuss event ideas and logistics. If you’d like to help us as part of the organizing team, please email or call me (9845690069) or simply show up at Yahoo and buzz us.
Please feel free to forward this to other folks you believe would be interested in helping out.
Thanks
-Amit
