Hi Mr Toh,

When discussing about eprocurement in the context of B2B, is GeBIZ more of a G2B kind of market instead of B2B?

Also, I've found SESAMi to be more of a B2B eprocurement intermediary, and I would like to confirm some of my understanding of this platform:
  1. Their main business is to run an e-marketplace to match buyers and supplier
  2. SESAMi is an intermediary-oriented market; my confusion is that SESAMi seem to also provide a platform/portal for buyers to operate their eprocurement page like a buyer-oriented market. i.e. suppliers don't have to visit SESAMi to search for RFQ; they could instead just visit the buyer's website / portal page to view requests specific to the buyers only. (See http://www.changiairport.com/corporate/e-services/procurement-portal.html) or is that exactly how eprocurement intermediaries should function?
  3. SESAMi offers some kind of financing option as well automation of information matching (documents from business to banks simplified via tradexchange.gov.sg), called E-Finance. Is it right to say that E-Finance increases admin efficiency -> reduces costs -> banks can offer more affordable rates -> lowers financing costs for businesses -> benefits all users
I look forward to your response, thanks!

Regards,
gw

I just found out that they have an international portal SESAMi.net to match overseas business with Singapore's.

However, the information available on that site does not seem to be updated. Is this international portal of SESAMi defunct?

Good job.  Sesami is clearly a B2B e-procurement marketplace that aggregates a diverse pool of suppliers so that it can match make them to buyers' RFQs.

Intermediary-oriented markets can provide facilities to make it easier for buyers or sellers.  The RFP tool is tailored to support buyers, but it doesn't mean that the platform is a "buyer-oriented" market.  You need to understand exactly who owns the market to qualify it as buyer-, supplier- or intermediary oriented.

Also, G2B is just a subclass of B2B.  In general, it is sufficient for you to distinguish between selling to consumers and selling to businesses.  No need for any further classification.

Hope this helps.
